Official Description

This hotel is located on the peaceful and secluded island of Abaco. The resort is just 282 km east of West Palm Beach, Florida in Marsh Harbour, Bahamas. Less than 1 hour away from the U.S. by plane, the resort is perfect for holidaymakers who wish to get away from it all with a minimum of travel time. Set on the golden beachfront in a sandy cove caressed by sapphire waters, the oceanfront rooms, suites and cottages capture the true island spirit. This family friendly beach resort comprises a total of 88 rooms including 4 suites and 12 villas. Facilities on offer to guests at this air-conditioned establishment include a lobby area with a 24-hour reception and 24-hour check-in/check out service, a hotel safe, a mini supermarket, a hairdressing salon, a bar and a restaurant. Guests are offered conference facilities and Internet access and they may also take advantage of the laundry service. There are bicycles for hire and parking is available. $740 a night was a bit steep and not the $500 a night as advertised— because if resort fee and taxes.

This is in a great location…. And is expensive. VAT tax $57 and resort levy of $101 and resort levy tax of $6.88, brings the total nightly bill as more than what’s advertised on internet base rate paid was $578, So, it was well over $743 per night— a 20% increase. (I’m not sure if all resorts have a big resort fee, so check before you book!). Look, happy to be on vacation and support tourism, here after Dorian wiped this place off the map. So, great setting, cute beach, prestine marina and 17 minute walk to the crossings ferry to get to other cays. Staff friendly and small grocery next door make for convenience and simplicity. Rented a car nearby for a day of driving to Pete’s Pub, and getting provisions for the boat. Restaurant terrace was decent. Hummus was excellent. Beach bar was open and was $40 for a rum and coke and no alcohol mango daiquiri. Not crowded but people milling about the marina.

Disappointing

My wife and I spent two night there before picking up our rental boat in the nearby marina. I have to say I was pretty disappointed in many aspects of the place. First the condition of the resort is still not great 4.5 years after Dorian. There is a lot of deferred maintenance. The check in staff and drivers were great as was one bartender but other bartenders and the break hostesses seemed like they could care less....and this at a time where the resort was completely empty. Beds were fine, and place was quiet (no one there!) but we had no hot water to speak to take showers--at best 70 degree water coming out of showers which is unacceptable. Location for marina is perfect and perhaps in higher season this place has better service--I was just expecting more given there TA reviews.

beautiful location and good hotel

we are currently residing at the beach resort what is a welcome retreat after a week of the hustle and bustle of Nassau. it is extremely pieceful at the resort. staff is helpful and friendly. hotel rooms are big and airy . nice bathrooms and we are lower ground with our own private seating area. would be a beautiful location for weddings and honeymoons . the only negative is the actual fitness room what is tiny and gets heated up as it overlooks the bay , despite having the aircon on .but overall a great resort

Off season is the best time to go....

Lovely location - central to the airport and the ferry's to the outer Cays. The staff were very pleasant and accomodating. The room was comfortable and the views were gorgeous. We went off season so we had the place, the beach and the restaurants to ourselves. The only people we saw were those staying on their boats in the marina. The staff helped us get a rental car and also connected with a boat captain for a day trip. The food is pricey but everything was tasty and generous. The Abaco's are clearly on the come back after that devastating hurricane 5 years ago however they are still very much rebuilding. I look forward to coming back in 2 years and seeing their progress.

Abaco Beach Resort and Marina is a lovely, serene, and very friendly place for the perfect getaway for boaters and vacationers alike. The views are spectacular, the restaurants are top notch and the hotel is gorgeous and very well-appointed with attention to detail. The staff is also extremely accommodating and the resort is very easy to get to. I cannot wait to go back!
