Just got home yesterday from my second stay here. I ended up booking again after another resort canceled my reservations last minute. They saved what the other resort ruined. First, the buffet and most of the restaurants are excellent. They have a lot of fish options, shrimp dishes, sushi and civeche! The slow roasted pork shank at the Mexican was awesome, the steak at the Gourmet above average, the Japanese Peruvian also fabulous. After 9 days, I was still not bored, there was a great deal of variety and the food is really good, especially for an all inclusive. The drinks are great, I drank mostly pina colladas, my favorite, but the mango margaritas are a close second. Every bar has espresso options (real espresso machines), a huge plus! The resort is always sparkling clean. The bedding is nice and feels fresh and I love the fan over the bed. Towels at the pool are large and easy to get. The service is top notch (shout out to Wilberth at the main bar!). The grounds are beautiful, wildlife abundant and the location can't be beat. They also upgraded me to a penthouse suit with roof top tub. Great room and amazing view. I was never pestered, not even once, by time share people (a rarity at past AIs) I do have a tiny amount feed back for the resort, but want to be clear, it was still great and I would still stay there again. The hydrotherapy was closed for renovations and I purchased 2 sessions with my package, so it would have been nice to know before purchasing or getting there that hydrotherapy was not an option. They gave me hot stone upgrades instead, which was meh, but at least they tried. I'm hoping it will be open next time. There is a clothing steamer in the room which I loved and used, along with slippers and robes. The loofa and bath crystals are a nice touch and I loved the honey scented bath products, but be aware, there is no conditioner. I have behind length hair and mine ran out so it would have been much better if that was supplied. The gift shop was also closed for renos so not only could I not get conditioner, but I couldn't get sunscreen either. I brought several 3 oz bottles of both, but it was not enough for 9 nights. I have always been able to get those items from gift shops in the past, so I wasn't worried, but ended up having to go without which kinda sucked. The bathroom shower window could use a curtain. Light spills in as soon as the sun comes up with no way to block it out, so if you are light sensitive, bring a sleep mask. The elevator was out in my building so my hips hurt a lot from all the up and down 3 flights of stairs several times a day. Lastly, while the live bands where nice, karaoke would have been even better. If ABBW fixed those small things, it would literally be the best resort I have stayed at, and I've stayed at a lot. So still a very worth while and affordable resort deserving of 5 starts, even taking my few peccadillos into consideration.
