Art Hotel Debono

Been before so was looking forward to going back. So disappointed. Food was not great. Stained bed linen. Children under 12 diving in pool. Sold as adult only. Cleaning needs attention. Such a shame.

This is the loveliest family run hotel. We stayed for a week booking two rooms with our 15 and 18 year old teens. The feel of the whole place is tranquil simplicity. The hotel is relaxed, calm and so peaceful - it really is an ideal place to rest and recharge. This is helped by the staff who go above and beyond to look after you. The staff were always doing this with kindness, integrity and consistently working hard without ever complaining - I honestly don’t think I have ever been anywhere where this applies to everyone working at the hotel - this was consistent across all departments and every day. We loved the food. It was excellent quality every evening. Each meal we all ate something different. It felt healthy and great home cooked food. There’s a good selection in the evenings when you consider this is a small hotel. There is more than enough choice to vary what you are having each day. On Sunday there was a big Greek BBQ themed evening which was just delicious. Breakfast consisted of the same things each day but again great quality and enough choice to choose varied breakfasts across your stay. The pool bar was actually our favourite for lunch. The menu has an excellent choice which is not all fast food so you have healthy choices each day. I can recommend the Greek salad and the Gyros. The price was very reasonable and not over charging as hotels can do. We found this to be excellent value for money for the four of us, and we chose to eat by the pool in the days we stayed in the hotel. The pricing was also great value for drinks better than outside the hotel. The pool was cleaned every morning. The sun loungers around the pool were not being reserved and were available throughout the day - which just added to the relaxation and removed this potential stress away. Pool towels were provided as were lilos and giant pool pillows to float away any stresses! We had a super chilled holiday which was much needed. My only observations would be the check in could be better where you are not required to fill out all your passport details on an iPad as this was a bit of a faff after travelling. I felt this should have been done by the reception staff and a welcome drink would have been a nice touch to give you an instant feeling of relaxation. What was lovely in comparison was the check out where we were given a lovely parting gift of Greek honey to bring home which was thoughtful and a lovely finish to our overall experience. Thank you so much for a chilled holiday - I can see why so many people return year on year.

We had a wonderful relaxing 5 day family holiday at this beautiful resort! We chose the half board option which meant breakfast and dinner buffets at hotel. The food was tasty and varied. Two of us in the family have coeliac disease which means we have to adhere to a strict gluten free diet, but the kitchen seemed well educated about it and there was always plenty we could eat. We really enjoyed the buffets. A special thanks to those working in the dining room and pool bar, for answering all of our questions and helping us with our gluten free requests! Everyone working there was great! The women at the front desk were so helpful and friendly. The whole place was immaculately clean and the person who cleaned our room was polite and thorough. It’s a resort that accepts children aged over 12 only, which suited us we have older teens now and we appreciated the calm vibe. It’s a good location for exploring the island with a car, but it was humid during our stay and the pool area was so pretty that we all enjoyed a lot of time reading by the pool and in the lounge area. I’d really recommend this resort. It exceeded our expectations!

What an absolute fantastic hotel this is. If you're after top hospitality, great comfort, excellent food quality, more than reasonable drinks prices for a hotel and a level of cleanliness rarely seen anymore, look no further! I've stayed here many times because it's that impressive. Book direct with the hotel for a better price and get yourself separate flights. The location is superb for getting around the island, and the staff are so incredibly helpful and polite. The quaint village of Gouvia is 7 minutes away on foot and, although you'll read a few negative reviews about crossing the main road, it's nowhere near the hotel, and after 13 years of crossing it I've never heard of or, seen an accident. You'll not be surprised that guests come here and return year after year once you've experienced the place. I love it.

I'm coming to the end of my 5 night stay here but felt I needed to write this review now. The hotel is lovely, the room we had was very nice with a view of the sea and landscape. Bed is comfortable, only niggle is size of TV and no walk in shower, however, I'm not here to watch TV. We are half board and the breakfast and evening meals have been lovely. Tasty, and a decent choice. Both meals are buffet style. The pool is lovely with plenty of sunbeds and so far, there has always been spares available, so no need to rush and leave a towel in the morning. However, you could have the nicest looking hotel with the best food, but if the staff are miserable and unhelpful, what's the point! So, I have to give a special mention to the staff. They are amazing. I think every hotel I've stayed in before there has always been at least 1 miserable staff member, not here, literally every single one is helpful, smiling and willing to help in anyway possible, they are joy and a credit to the hotel. From the moment we walked into the hotel, reception was incredibly helpful as we were early, house cleaning was lovely and the bar staff by the pool, fantastic. All in all this is a lovely place for a relaxed holiday and adults only, that's a great thing. There's more to say but you likely have not got this far lol Book it, you won't regret it.
