This place is a very pretty and well maintained establishment. I would not call it a resort, since there is no maid service, no restaurants on site, and little to no activities for its guests. They provide basic beach chairs, but charge a crazy fee to use their umbrellas. Beach equipment cannot be removed from their property. I specifically point out the insanely scorching hot tub in my review, since a hot tub is something that both my husband and I enjoy while on vacation. The temperature of this one is so hot that we were unable to really enjoy it. When I mentioned it to the man at the front desk, he said that “I was the only one who complained,” so although he said he would send out maintenance, maintenance did absolutely nothing and did not lower the temperature. Yet my husband and I would sit on the loungers and watch other guests attempt to get into the hot tub and then get back out saying the hot tub was way too hot. They would then sit on the side and dangle their feet in because that was pretty much all they could do. Not sure why it was a big deal for the hotel to turn down the temp a few degrees. I was actually doing them a favor and saving them money. On the flip side, the pool temp was slightly too cool. So if you are a night swimmer and want to hang out for a while, you probably won’t like the set up of their pool and hot tub. As a frequent vacationer, I’ve been in and enjoyed multiple hot tubs, and can honestly say that the temp of this one takes the cake. It may sound nit picky, but it is something that we were unable to ever enjoy. Basing it off of how many guests “complain” is ridiculous, since most will probably just deal with it and not go in. Another factor that keeps it from being a five star hotel, is the fact that it is quite a dark hotel when night time arrives. There is not a lot of lighting and the few tiki torches they have remained unlit all week due to waiting on an inspection. I guess with island time, they are at the mercy of inspectors coming to clear them, so I guess this might lot be their fault. This being said, as aforementioned, it is a pretty hotel that is nicely maintained. It is also right next door to Whalers Village and there is a Maui Brewing Company next door, so there’s some good food options.
