Atana Hotel

When first entering the hotel it looked very high end with an emaculate reception. You would get the lift to your floor, in the lift there is a constant video being played with an AI type voice reading through historic reviews, this got very annoying after a few days. There are 2 towers to this hotel, each with 22 floors, and 4 lifts per tower. You could be waiting for a little while for the lift each time you need to use it during peak times, and lifts would change direction frequently. Our first room was decent at first look but quicky realised it was dated and needed to have some work done to modernise it but we weren't too bothered overall. During our stay I was getting married, after the special day my parents had organised for our room to be decorated before we got back. Upon entering the room it was not decorated, and later staff knocked on our door with decorations, but I sent them away thinking it was a mistake on their part. On the same day after housekeeping had been round all the rooms, my parents returned to their room with their door left wide open and no one inside, causing worry as they had to check everything to make sure nothing was stolen, straight away they complained and asked the manager to check security cameras to ensure no one else had entered the room. Myself and my wife got upgraded to a suite after complaining about the unorganised mess the hotel had caused with the room door being left open and our room not being decorated in time. First impressions were very nice, and very spacious, however upon further inspection the flaws started to show. Again the room wasn't made up of modern decor and dated in some areas, it was clear some DIY had been done to the room around the door frames which wasn't pleasant to look at, along with some chips in the tiles, the shower attached to the wall was loose, the hair dryer attatched to the wall was loose and kept coming off when using the hairdryer, you could see the big patch of adhesive the staff tried to use to stick the hair dryer back to the wall which had failed. So it was pretty poor presentation for a Suite, you'd expect perfction for a 4 star hotel. Breakfast every morning was a bit of a mission, felt a bit like a free for all people going in all directions around the serving area trying to dodge them as you are trying to get to your choice of food. Hash browns were very popular so you were lucky if you managed to get any, the queue would get pretty long around the popular foods and drinks. You had coffee and tea one side of the hall and juices at the other side which didn't make sense to me why not have all the drinks together, and they were close to the serving area so would cause more congestion, but the breakfast was okay, French Toast was very nice but the pancakes were dry. The outside area where you could stay around the pool, all the sunbeds had been duck taped in some form or another, with alot of loose strands hanging down from the arms which made all the sun beds look run down and old, most of them needed replacing. The bbq food outside was very nice with good qaulity food, the inside buffet around lunch time didn't look appetising at all. One night when deciding to eat at the hotel we asked for a menu instead and the qaulity of food that came out from the kitchen wasn't great unfortunately, not able to cook steaks, some of the fries were cold. After all that I wouldn't say this is a 4 star hotel, its more of a place to sleep get a quick breakfast and go to other places during the day. The hotel is situated close to a metro station just a 5 minute walk, also has access to a pub that serves beer and excellent food in the hotel opposite and a good convenience store around the corner. The location is really good, just not the best hotel.

Spent a week here during Easter break and to be honest, wasn't too impressed. The lobby itself is nice and the rooms are ok (minus the dirty carpets that they need to get rid of). But overall there is a lot left to be desired with the hotel and I definitely wouldn't come back or recommend to anyone. So first off the wifi is awful, hard to get any services so the claim of wifi working everywhere isn't true. It's really patchy and hard to get. We paid all inclusive and I've never been to a hotel that's all inclusive that you can't get drinks and by drinks I mean water or soft drinks, nobody in the group drinks alcohol, so it wasn't alcohol we wanted. The inedible breakfast, lunch and dinner has drinks and you get one small bottle per room every day but after that, you have to pay and the bar doesn't start until 12pm. I found that a massive put off. I've never been all inclusive somewhere where drinks aren't included. To the food, it genuinely was inedible, we got a very good deal but we only paid for all inclusive so we could get drinks whenever we wanted. If I had paid full price for that, I would have asked for a refund and looked to go to a different hotel. The food is disgusting. This isn't just a culture difference, the breakfast is shocking. Stale cereals and breads, unripe fruit and watery eggs. How they managed to make pain au chocolat taste so bad is beyond me, that's a gift! I ate some apples when they were available for breakfast. We had one ok lunch but over 7 nights we only ate at the hotel 4 time due to the food being so bad. The rooms are ok but we had issues with the room that when I asked for help they did not fix. The bedside lamp didn't work and being with a child, it made it awkward for me to read at night. Also all 3 of us got a cough in the room from the first day we got there, which was weird as we kept the aircon off. Room service isn't great, they want you out very early and if you aren't, they don't come back until late afternoon and because my child still naps, I kept having to ring down to get them to service the room. The pool is ok but limited seating around the pool area and when we went to lunch our stuff was moved from the bed chair, which is fine but be nice to be told that, because we wouldn't have left them if we had known. Gym is basic but usable and I did so. I did like the easily accessible towels. The hotel also isn't a very good location, if you are looking for more central downtown Dubai, don't book this. As I said I won't be back, the hotel isn't a 4star service.

We stayed in this hotel for a total of 3 nights, we had stuff which needed to be refrigerated while our fridge was out of order. Asked for a repair 3 times and no one even bothered to come to check. We asked for a cutlery 2 times and nothing happened! For a 4 star hotel, my experience was disapointing.Also, the furniture and the carpet of the rooms were not clean in general.
