We stayed at Avani+ Koh Lanta Krabi Resort during low season and overall had a memorable experience, though with a few ups and downs. Check-in was smooth after a long journey from Khao Lak. We were welcomed with a refreshing butterfly pea lemon drink and kindly assisted by Yong, who was warm, attentive, and gave us great recommendations for restaurants and activities in Koh Lanta. She even upgraded our booking to a pool-view room, which we appreciated. When the bellman was delayed, Yong personally walked us to the room, showing us the hotel facilities along the way—a lovely gesture after our long trip. The room itself was spotless, well-equipped with amenities, and housekeeping (special thanks to Pla) kept everything immaculate. We did face issues with the air conditioning on the first night. It stopped cooling around midnight, and the explanation given by the night shift—that the system only works with “movement”—felt dismissive and unhelpful. The engineering staff who came later were also curt, and no alternative solutions (like offering a fan or a room move) were provided. After a restless night, we postponed our tour the next morning. Fortunately, we met Woody, the Front Office Manager, who listened to our concerns, arranged a proper follow-up, and later surprised us with a thoughtful apology card and gesture in the room. His service truly turned the situation around and made us feel valued. The resort itself is calm and relaxing, with free bicycles, a well-equipped and cool gym, and a lovely breakfast with a wide selection of food. Staff at the Cliff restaurant, especially Ning, took excellent care of us during dinner—even apologizing for a temporary power outage. The pool area was pleasant, though we noticed some dirt in the main pool and had difficulty getting attention at the pool bar. At breakfast, service could be more attentive, as we had to request cutlery despite being seated near staff. Highlights: quiet atmosphere, clean and spacious rooms, excellent gym, delicious breakfast, and genuinely kind staff like Yong, Pla, Ning, and Woody who went above and beyond. Areas for improvement: more attentive service from night shift staff and engineering, consistency in restaurant service, and clearer communication during unexpected situations. Overall, despite some frustrations, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. With a few improvements in service consistency, Avani+ Koh Lanta has the potential to be an outstanding resort experience.
