Avra Beach

We had an amazing holiday at Avra Beach. We have stayed there many times and, like many others, we keep going back because there is nowhere else quite like it. Our room was very comfortable and clean with a fabulous view. The hotel is very clean and the staff are all so friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Kostas, the F&B manager, is excellent. He arranged a special table in the restaurant for our friend’s 60th. Birthday with a lovely cake and decorations. The food is excellent. In the main restaurant there are themed evenings and we particularly liked the Asian and Mexican nights. There is always plenty of choice and we enjoyed every meal. Most lunch times we ate in the Greek and Italian restaurant as the pizza, Caesar Salad and Risotto are so good. They also do gyros every day. Bar staff are all really friendly and there is a great atmosphere. The evening entertainment this year was excellent and we really enjoyed D-Spot Band, ABBA, Bruno Mars (with Rihanna and an amazing James Brown) and the violinist. We had some great nights with a lovely party atmosphere and dancing. There is no problem finding sunbeds and pool towels are provided. Thank you to Sam, Bogden, Lea, Bee and Tibi for providing all the fun daytime activities and music. Also to our wonderful lifeguard, Pavel. Already we are missing you all and can’t wait to return to our happy place later in the season.

We chose this hotel because of so many great reviews. We arrived late afternoon and check in was quick with friendly staff, however when we got to our room it was beyond dated. There were four single beds on two levels (there was just me and my husband on this trip). There was no natural light, one plug socket, a tiny bathroom with half used tubes of shower gel and an awful view. We holiday long hauI once and Europe three time  a year and this was awful! I went back to reception and explained that in all our years travelling this was the worst room we had ever had. The staff member dealing with this said it was a standard room and that was what we had paid for. It was actually a standard family room according to the website, nothing like the images and a very poor one at that, also we had booked a standard twin or double. I'm sorry but this room was not even a two star standard. She was however very pleasant and kindly found us another room, and said if we weren't happy with that, we may be able to change in two days. This room was also dated but much improved on the first one. The view however wasn't good at all, but as we didn't want to keep changing we settled for it. I put my towel in the bath to be replaced as this is what is asked for everywhere we go, however it was folded and put back on the rail when we returned to the room. The restaurant and entertainment staff work very hard to keep you happy. The hotel is clean, the food was lovely, we don't usually bother with the entertainment but it was first class. There are no speciality restaurants to book here, there is a Greek and an Italian snack bar just by the beach you can use through the day. You can catch a bus into Rhodes town right outside the hotel, which was great, the tickets can be purchased from the shop in the hotel for €2.30 or from the mini market across the road. You can also pay cash on the bus but it's quicker and more convenient with tickets we found. We got a timetable from the hotel reception staff who were really helpful in answering our questions. We caught the bus to Lindos from Rhodes town for €5.50 each, and the bus staff are very helpful. If you fancy a meal out for a change, the Chinese restaurant across the road to the left  'The Golden Fish' is lovely, great food and service. In the old town Island Lipsi Niki's Bar is great, Family owned, good food and service. Overall a good holiday, but this is not a 4* hotel.

We had the most amazing 11nt stay at Avra Beach. I travelled with my mother(80) and 2 children (18&12) Every detail was catered for. The staff are very approachable attentive and friendly. Our room was a decent size and spotlessly clean, maid service everyday, beach towels provided. The restaurants are professionally run, the food was fantastic fresh and the theme nights gave alot of variety. Traveling with my elderly mother we wanted to stay around the grounds of the hotel, the location is amazing, there are very little steps around the grounds so it's perfect for anyone with walking difficulties. The entertainment team are a fantastic bunch so much fun, Aqua gym each morning was my favourite. We would highly recommend this hotel and I would book it again in a heartbeat. Perfect for family and couples, we were a party of 12 for my 70th birthday, and the hotel cared for all of our needs from start to finish, we booked all superior sea view rooms plenty of space, but need to be creative in finding space for cloths etc. lacking in areas for storage. towels changed every day if left on floor, if you take your own glasses and cups cleaners will take them so hide somewhere. Safe available but never used, overall the room catered for our needs over 7 days, checkout is 11.00am but you can pay 7 euros per hour to extend the time if a late flight giving a extra day in the sun Cannot fault the food good choice all day catered for all ages for each meal and different themes each night. night time restaurant opens at 6.45pm and not 7.00pm as advertised food could have being warmer a couple of microwave's would have being nice to re heat. depends on time there will be some queuing. Pool area there is a rule that towels will be removed if no one there, and yes it happens observed this very day, small tip if a family and wanting to be next to the pool, the staff member arrives dead on 8.00am to remove towels bags books etc. pick your loungers at 7.15-30am and someone sits on the lounger until after 8.00an then go to breakfast after the pool man done his rounds we done this for 12 people every day but on trips out. Plenty of entertainment all day and night overall the staff were great from gardeners , cleaners and bar staff to restaurant staff,

Me and my partner came here in may and it wasnt the beat hotel but it wasnt awful at all. Id like to begin with the rooms, they were so spacious, always had room service and always kept at a perfect temperature. My only downside was the open plan bathroom woth minimal privacy but that wasnt too much of an issue as like i mentioned i was with my partner, but it was just different from other hotels. The entertainment wasnt amazing but that didnt bother us too much as we made light of walking around and going to the mini markets we found, the entertainment we did see, whuch was bingo, was extremely good and rhe prizes were amazing. The food variety was our biggest issue due to the lack of options for picky eaters, it wasnt so bad for myself as i am willing to try things but my partner ended up on just chips most nights due to a lack of variety. This of course can be bad for younger children but i wouldnt class this as a mainly for children hotel, which i really enjoyed myself as it gave me more relaxing time to myself. I loved that they didnt allow for saving of sunbeds before a dpecific time which gave everyone a chance to get a sunbed when they get up and out and it is something i wish more hotels did. My partner fell very ill on the holiday which did ruin out stay, and one of the cleaners was extremely rude to us when i asked for help on our situation that occurred in the hall, but despite that the lady at reception was amazing, so helpful and so kind offering us more help than we could ask for she was amazing. The hotel was in decent distant of many things, about 15 min taxi from old rhodes which was super easy to book from the hotel, it was abit harder to get a taxi back but eventually you will find one. Boogie made our days alot whilst we were here too, always laughing, smiling and engaging people in activities which was amazing to see. All in all it was an okay hotel, wouldnt rush back, but wouldnt avoid in the future
