Official Description

This exclusive beach hotel is located amidst tropical vegetation and beside a sandy beach on the Mayan Riviera with a protected coral reef. The centre of Akumal is some 3.5 km away and offers a range of shops, numerous restaurants and entertainment venues. The tourist area of Tulum is 15 km from the hotel. This modern complex provides a total of 1080 junior suites and is affiliated with 3 luxury hotels, all built by the famous Mexican architect Fernando Quiriarte and inspired by the Puuc Maya period. Facilities available to guests include 6 bars, 6 restaurants, a nightclub, and a theatre. If you are looking for a completely average vacation this spot is great. If you’re looking for luxury this is not the place!! The pools were very warm and not refreshing. It was like taking a warm bath with 100 strangers. The beach was pretty okay, we spent most of our time there since the ocean was much cooler than the pools. The ocean was pretty rocky so we walked down the beach to another section that was much nicer. The buffet food was eatable, there were probably one or two things we actually thought were GOOD. Some of the food had been sitting for way too long, and almost everything seemed unsanitary. My husband and I both got stomach sick a few days in. The a la carte restaurants we went to were pretty good but what sucks is they only give you three restaurant meals while you’re there, and you have to reserve those meals and almost every restaurant was booked up for the whole week so we ate at the same place multiple times. The resort itself was cute but it’s definitely old. The staff was very very friendly and helpful. I would definitely not go here again. Granted it was a cheap resort so I will either try a different cheap resort next time or spend more money on a nicer resort.

I came to this hotel in 2016 when it was fun hence my return 9 years later however things have changed, which I understand given the timeframe, but my experience this time wasn’t great. I stayed at Tulum and quickly realised I should have booked Akumal as it is apparently more adult focused. We spent more time at Coba as the entertainment was better although the rooms looked more dated. Nonetheless I wouldn’t return to BP as it was soooo boring, everything shut early, the alcohol was horrid, the beach was non-existent as it was swamped with seaweed and the rooms were bearable. On another note- the customer service was perfect (although we tipped constantly) and the food was really nice.

I visited this hotel twice and I’ve never returned to a place before. This resort is perfection from the location to the staff and food. Everywhere, everyone greets. Very friendly staff, a variety of menus, care for the guests, lots of fun and beautiful views. The hotel staff are so welcoming and really do make you feel like a VIP. The animation team are absolutely brilliant. The guys work their bums off from morning to late night making sure everyone’s vibing and having a laugh. Everything was fantastic from start to finish. Lots of little details make this place stand above the rest, and I have no hesitation in recommending this place.
