Balaia Golf Village Resort & Golf

We have had an excellent stay here. Grounds are kept clean and tidy. The clubhouse does an excellent breakfast with a friendly waitress. Lovely pool beside the pizzeria with nice drinks and never had any rude interactions with staff compared to other reviews recently. Rooms were quiet even though we had neighbours. It is a car journey away to Albufeira marina and old town however Uber is cheap and fast so this wasn’t an issue for us.

We had a fantastic stay! Apartments have everything you need and are very clean. Pools are fabulous and clean too. The poolside bar was lovely and had great food and drinks! If you are worried about location we used bolt and a trip to the old town averaged about €4 and lifted us right from our apartment! The spar and pharmacy are also very close at hand. Highly recommend!!!

This is a very expensive complex whilst the grounds are immaculate there are a few things to consider before booking. If your mobility is limited you may find the hills a challenge, if you are in an area at the far end of the complex it will take around 10, 15 to walk to reception. Reception is opposite the entrance into the complex. I would suggest you ask for assistance to take your luggage to your apartment as the hills make this an exhausting effort. There is only one Spar shop outside the complex for those who are self catering. Cleanliness ie cleaning is somewhat haphazard, ants are commonplace in the apartment. While there are quite a few pools dotted throughout the complex there are not enough places to eat on site. Local restaurants are around 20 minutes walk away. You can of course book a taxi, although this will add to the expense of your holiday. There is supposed to be a bowling green on site, unfortunately this has been replaced by a putting green. Albufeira is approximately 20 minutes by taxi, Vilamoura is also a similar distance, personally i wouldn't reccomend a bus as they are not that frequent. Apartments are a good size with all facilities for your stay. Would i book this complex again? Definitely not, in my opinion you are to isolated not enough restaurants and shops nearby. If you love golf its the place for you, if you are a family with young children the pool is your only entertainment as the children's club doesn't seem to be on. I write this sitting in our apartment 30th June 2025. Yes the weather is wonderful, grounds are manicured, walking to local restaurants is a chore too far.

Have been travelling to Balaia for 20years having amazing holidays. Took the children and grand children in June and it's changed. Hen parties and stag parties around the pool being loud etc. The amenities around the pool close at 10.00 - 12.00 in the morning when you need a coffee and a light snack. The staff walk away when you approach the bar and huff if you are not ready to order food. The golf course has no etiquette and is now treated like a pitch and putt. My father in laws hole in one sign has been removed and "chucked in the trash ". Very disappointed and thank fully my in laws are no longer able to see this. We will not be returning !

We stayed in a 2 bed superior apartment, and overall I'd say it was ok. Beds were comfortable, and quite spacious apartment. However it is in desperate need of refurbishment, and a DEEP CLEAN. Bed sheets and decorative cushions have stains on them, corners of rooms dirty and floors stained, cutlery and plates dirty on arrival, kettle unable to use as broken and filthy, no baking trays, only 1 shelf in oven, drawers in kitchen dirty too. Lots of bugs/ants in the apartment, not sure where they were coming from. A proper clean would have made the apartment much better, but some things simply need replacing. A 30 minute walk from the new town strip, not as close as other reviews have made it out to be but Ubers were really cheap (4 euro ish). A spar outside which is helpful and a few restaurants and intermarche a small walk away, although we arrived very late at night and nowhere around was open to get food. Staff at reception were unhelpful in giving information on places to get food, also very little help in trying to find our apartment in the dark on a huge resort. We had a great time by the pools, the grounds surrounding are beautiful and well kept and lots of different pools to spend the day by. The food at poolside restaurants is really nice and look like they've recently been done up but very poor and slow service. Plates left uncleared were quickly cleaned up by seagulls ! The rooms are simply not up to par with the rest of the resort, or even simple hygiene standards, but we made do.
