Great stay

Great stay with friends in the rooms with suite and pool view. Upper floor gave a fantastic view of the pool area. Busy times at the pool require more strict control of reserving sunbeds with some not returning for several hours. Great friendly staff and rooms to match, well maintained and clean. Great location (been in this area before). Will return.

Poor room cleanliness. Lifeguards picking on children around the pool not letting children in to child’s pool area. Repetitive foods in restaurants. Overall 3/5

This was our 4 holiday in this hotel we stay for a month. The hotel is always welcoming and friendly nothing is too much trouble from the Director (Manager) to the cleaning staff everyone is happy to help you with any problem. We stayed in April this year and my wife uses a wheelchair and the footrest broke I asked one of the maintenance team if he could repair it within 1/2 hour he had repaired it and brought it up to our room. we feel safe knowing that any problems that arise you have a member of staff that will listen and help you. the hotel is central and bars, supermarket, shopping, chemist and the beach are only 5 minutes walk away. it is very quite on a night nobody shouting and drunken people shouting. summer time the entertainment is held outside this finishes about 10:30 this can be noisy but you are on holiday and exept that. Different themed nights in the restaurant Mexican, Canarien, Italian, Arabian and International something for everyone and plenty of ice cream. Breakfast has a very wide range of food there is a honeycomb on a stand and the Honey runs into a bowl you can't get fresher than that. The beds are huge and the rooms are well equipt and the rooms are always spotless tea, coffee, milk and sugar provided with a kettle in the room shampoo, conditioner and body lotion are all in dispensers. Wellness centre Gym and Kids club on site are very good. When we go its like or second home friendly faces everyone you speak to have been 5/6 times.

Return to Barcelo Sands

This was our third visit to Barcelo Sands, as we come in a large group, (the others more regularly). We have absolutely loved this gem of a place, but this year felt a bit different!! The change on the AI has been highly disappointing, as a lot of the drinks previously allowed are now taken off or you pay an additional premium when you order them. The food has gone down hill quite a lot, something you see in other reviews, and the kids pool floor really needs a revamp. It’s a shame as we do love this place and the reasoning why is the rooms are perfectly clean, spacious and modern but the main reason is the staff. Maria on reception is an absolute gem, nothing it’s too much to ask, and she is a credit to Barcelo! Thank you Maria. Laura, Michael, Alexis, have been there for years and are the reason we return for their fantastic service. Bit of a mixed review, but I’m sure one day we will return.

Clean and comfortable

Just returned from a family holiday over half term. This was the first time at this hotel and resort. I'll give a few pointers from a family with a 5 year old. Lovely hotel with staff that are wonderful from the super considerate cleaning lady to the awesome animation team. Pools are really nice, especially the chilled kids pool, great sun all day zone. We went AI, though we really shouldn't. Restaurant is very clean, and staff are attentive as ever. The food was very hit and miss, especially the evening meal? For a 4 star, we expected much better as the food wasn't that good, and we found it hard to get a complete meal to enjoy? Brekky was much better. Rooms were clean. However, our whirlpool room was on the 2nd floor with a 5 year old, not ideal. Rooms were of good quality and kept clean throughout. Overvall the hotel was nice and we enjoyed our stay but the food needs to improve to level it up to customers expectations. The resort was pretty much 1 main street with everything you would need on your doorstep at decent prices. The local beach is awful and smells of sewage. Therefore, we went to Grandes Playas twice during our stay and for 9 euros each way it was well worth it, a vast beach with beautiful coastline, stunning. Barcelo never let you down. It's a great chain with high standards 👌
