Back to Stansted from Hotel Barcelo on the active side of the resort in Costa Teguise. Travelled with Ryanair booked with travel republic for 6 days mid june for a young couple. Flight was ok, only brought hand luggage with us however they did make me check my luggage would fit the holdle before boarding luckily it did. Was in and out the airport quick but travel republic weren’t very precise with the pickup location of the travel. Got there in the end after a short walk past the red path and up the ramp on the left. But had to phone them. It was only 15 minutes on the shuttle to get to the hotel. Checked in 7pm on the main hotel side check in desk where the royal section is and then made the short walk past the zebra crossing to the active resort side in block 3. On the way there was a hiperdino on site, bit pricey but had things you needed.. apart from medicines. But suncreams, snacks, drinks all there. Room in block 3 included double bed, sofa, walk-in shower. Was ideal as was central to the olympic pool, near the pool and bar and buffet and only above the reception and bar there. Had a view of the sea too. Room was clean and the cleaners came in and replaced towels everyday when asked to, as well as bedding when asked. They also had usbc and usb on sockets. Tv channel had the club world cup and english channels/ itv no love island. Room was nice. Only thing i recommend is topping up fridge with snacks and drinks as only single water provided. Must say if youre not aware of what’s available on both sides of the hotel, you can use both bars, buffets, entertainments, pool tables, pools etc, apart from whats acc separate which is the Royal Side. At night on the other side after 11 ish they have a snack & sandwich bar with fizzy drinks for anyone to take. But you can buy stuff from the hyperdino that opens from 8am closes at 10pm. Live entertainment was good, good crowds and songs mainly targeted to us english. There was free bingo most nights too. This was for both sides. All inclusive beer of choice on draft on the active side was San Miguel, other side was Cruzcampo. Drinks were nice sometimes queue at the bar for a short while on the active side but the queues went quickly, and there was always a seat/ table for 2. Bars closed at 12am. There was pool for €2 a go with a coin dispenser only accepting €5 and €10. Can exchange money on the main help desk. Sometimes when drinking spirits or mixers they would put triple shots in for the amaretto/vodka but wasnt complaining! But something to look out for. The buffet food on the active side was a typical buffet. I cant comment on the other side as i didnt go in to the buffet there at all. The breakfast had your typical pancakes and choice of nutella and honey, bacon, eggs, etc, all shown on reviews on google. The lunch was similar to the dinner, definitely filled a hole, but during the day by the main pool on the active side they also sold hot dogs, burgers, wings, nuggets and fruit. It was good food, and could have sauces on the side. The drinks at times from the slush machines were not slushy but only because they had only topped it up, but the drinks were nice. Dinner was also typical buffet dinner options of cheeses, breads, piella, and your meats and veggies meals. Noodles and pastas as well as pizzas and other spanish foods. The ice creams and cakes were nice apart from the chocolate cake. Nothing to complain about, apart from it might have been cold being left out but thats what happens if you eat later in the evening when they close at 11. Food times at the buffet on the active side were from 6:30 ish - 10:30 lunch from 12:30 for a few hours and dinner was from 6-11 i think. Not 100% sure. But we never had a problem sitting down. Some days when woke up late, approx 10am you struggle to get a sunbed both the royal and active side. But what do you expect waking up late, so keep it in mind. We went to the town centre of Costa Teguise, you could get a bus down for €1.50 but a taxi was from €3.50-€5 depending on the meter. The town centre was good, market for Friday night, and they do it for Wednesday too. Bus stop and taxi rank was right outside the main entrace to the Royal hotel. By the beach which is only a 7 min walk from drop off at the taxi rank. On the walk to the beach you find loads of restaurants and bars to grab food and drink. All ranged from price and menu. Best to see what you fancy. The Barcelo hotel chain also have an adults only at the town centre where the beach is. Id like to see what it was like as they had a sports bar in there called Champs. We were allowed to go in but as we didnt stay there we had to pay for food and drinks pay. Im not 100% certain but i think if youre royal you might get it free but idk you would have to check. The food and drink was lovely. We both had pork burrito which was unreal. They had good tvs and selections of sport as well as food and drink on the menu and it got lively after 10. Was very cheap, 2 meals + 2 drinks only €30 which we were both very full. They served food until 9 and closed at 12 like most BARCELO bars. Check the menus online. On the royal side of Hotel Barcelo Active you could tell from looking it was quieter and the food looked better as well as the drinks. And the pool looked quieter. But as a whole, the whole hotel complex from royal to active it was clean, not a long distance from bar to bar and pool to pool, and was definitely worth the money we paid for a 4* hotel. Staff were all friendly too. Definitely make sure you know whats in for your stay before booking. Check google maps satellite to see how the resort looks from above and the hotel as a whole on trip advisor. But overall couldnt complain about the hotel and would recommend the BARCELO hotel chains.
