We arrived at the regular part of the Barcelò Margaritas on day 1, All Inclusive for 7 nights. As we arrived, first impressions, the hotel was stunning, very big, smelt good and staff was lovely. Rooms were lovely. Good size and fairly modern, we were told the hotel underwent refurbishment only 2 years ago. Food... there was a good choice, but not a lot really to our taste. Mainly Spanish cuisine. Staff are great, nothing seems too much. Drinks good but nothing top shelf. I would personally rate the standard part of the hotel a 4/5. We upgraded on day 3 to Royal Level for our last 4 nights and OMG... excellent. Rooms, Staff, food, drinks, Pool, all excellent quality and well worth the upgrade. Top shelf drinks available, great cocktails, food À La Carte for lunch, excellent choices and top quality. And buffet style Dinner, lots of choice, good multi cultural cuisine. I would give 5 stars for our experience here. I have one negative thought overall but the rest of the experience and other local amenities well makes up for it.... The Entertainment. In a room in the hotel, lights on full, no stage, no show lighting, not much room to move about. Definitely need to think more about putting on a more special, entertainment guest experience. And maybe a room fit for purpose. Overall, even with the entertainment qualms, I would recommend this hotel, and especially the Royal Level experience.
