Just come back from a week’s stay at Gerakas Belvedere Hotel. Nice hotel and staff were great. Public areas of the hotel were very nice, clean and modern. Warning to those not expecting it though.. environmental tax is steep at €10 a day. This was my third visit to Greece this year so was well aware of it. Stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast buffet was great, ate well every morning. However, would benefit from one more coffee machine and toaster, as there was always a queue for both as there was only one of each available for use. I stayed in room number 303, which was a ground floor room so no sea view, however a nice view from the pool area. Room was comfortable, cleaned daily. Shower head didn’t stay in situ, however after reporting for the second time was fixed quickly. There was an issue with one of the drains in the bathroom - water rising when in the shower (not a toilet roll issue, toilet tissue should not be flushed down the toilet as it can cause problems). Reported to reception and sorted pretty much straight away. Fly screen at the patio door which kept the pesky mosquitos, wasps and hornets out. Air conditioning and WiFi was free to use, the rooms do get very warm so very happy that the ac was free. WiFi was intermittent if your room is further away from the main area of the hotel - maybe WiFi signal boosters would be a good idea. The hotel is situated in a very quiet area of the island but there are several nice tavernas, two supermarkets and three nice beaches within 30 minute walk. Buses into the towns were not as regular as in the high season but still useable at 2€ for each bus. All in all a nice stay in Zakynthos and I would be more than happy to stay at the Belvedere Hotel again, hopefully if I do I’ll get a sea view next time.
