Blue Bay Platinum Hotel

The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, that’s where the five-star experience ends for us. We have been coming to Turkey for around 12 years and have stayed in many five-star all-inclusive hotels, so we have a good idea of the standard to expect. In our opinion, this hotel simply does not offer a five-star experience, particularly considering the price we paid. The biggest problem is the lack of space. The pool area feels far too small for the number of guests, with people constantly competing for sunbeds and umbrellas. If you leave your umbrella or bed unattended, there is a good chance somebody else will take it. It doesn’t make for a particularly relaxing holiday. There is only one pool bar with, during our stay, often just one person serving. It is common to see queues of 10 or more people waiting for drinks. For a five-star all-inclusive resort, this really isn’t acceptable. Our room for a family of three is also extremely small. There is so little space that we can’t even properly open the minibar. The minibar itself contains just three bottles of water and no soft drinks or other refreshments, which again is very disappointing for a five-star all-inclusive hotel. There is also an unpleasant drain/damp smell in the room. The bed had only one pillow, which was not sufficient for a comfortable night’s sleep. We also noticed rust on some of the fixtures and fittings. When we checked in, rather than being properly given information about the hotel and facilities, reception simply told us to take a photograph of a frame containing the meal times and other important information. It might sound like a small detail, but it sums up the lack of the little touches you normally associate with a five-star hotel. The food itself is nice and we have no complaints about the quality, but the main restaurant is far too small for the number of guests. It gets extremely busy and there are constant queues. Again, this isn’t what we have experienced at other five-star resorts in Turkey. There are also lots of smaller details that add up. There are none of the usual bathroom extras such as toothbrushes or cotton pads, and the pool towels are old, rough and scratchy. Individually these things might seem minor, but when you are paying five-star prices, you expect the overall standard and attention to detail to reflect that. To be clear, this isn’t a bad hotel. It is exceptionally clean, the staff work hard and are friendly, and the food is good. But cleanliness and friendly staff alone don’t make a hotel five-star. Having stayed in five-star hotels throughout Turkey for many years, we would personally rate the overall experience closer to a three star plus/four-star hotel. Had we booked and paid for a four-star hotel, our expectations would have been very different. The disappointment comes from paying a five-star price and simply not receiving the five-star experience we expected.

Just back from our holiday. We had a good time, though there were a few pros and cons.The good bits:The relax pool: We spent pretty much all of our time here. A massive shoutout to Alex—he is absolutely amazing! He keeps the whole area completely spotless and looks after everyone so well.Our room: We stayed in a 2-bedroom family room overlooking the relax pool. It was perfect for us, really clean and modern.The food & treats: There is SO much choice every day, the food is lovely, and the ice cream in the patisserie is really good.The restaurant staff: Even though it gets chaotic, the staff in the restaurant are absolutely fab.Location: Great spot with loads of bars and restaurants just outside if you want to venture out.The down sides:Overcrowding: The main con is that it feels like there isn’t quite enough space for the amount of people booked in. It can get really overcrowded at times.The restaurant: Because of the crowds, the restaurant is always very busy no matter what time you go.Overall:It was a good trip overall. It does get very busy, but the great staff like Alex and the restaurant team make a big difference!

Tui let us down a bit here! Family room is actually just a small suite! A blanket on a sofa is not a bed!!! Room is much too small for 4 people!!! But big thanks to the dining staff for going above and beyond! Great people! And an even bigger shoutout to Kay at the kids club nothing is to much for her! Great person helpful and friendly. Brilliant with the kids. Will defo be back next year to see her with the kids if she is till there!!!

We stayed here recently as an adult family of eight and unfortunately, although there were some positives, there were also a number of things that let the hotel down. On the positive side, the pool is a great temperature, the bar staff are fantastic (BIG shout out the Amil) and the location of the hotel within Marmaris is really good. The caramel ice cream at the parlour is lovely, although the room itself could definitely be cooler! Getting around is easy. The dolmuş to Marmaris and İçmeler is 60 lira each way, while the little white buses around Marmaris (which have hotels written on the sides) are cheaper at around 55 lira. Cash is handed down to the driver with your change then getting passed back to you! Go Karting is a ten minute walk away which is good fun along with a couple of water parks. A supermarket and Macdonalds is over the road from the hotel with Marmaris harbour a gentle 30 minute stroll along the tiled promenade. On arrival, there was no welcome pack, we got to the hotel at around 2am. The transfer also took around two hours, including a stop on the way at a roadside cafe. Quite unusual! Check in and out was smooth and our cases got taken to the rooms. The sunbed situation starts very early – before 6am every day, with people reserving beds, which isn’t ideal when you’re on holiday and although it states that towels will be removed, this is not enforced, or at least wasn’t during our stay. Pretty much all of beds are towelled for the day way before 8am. If your room overlooks the pool, don’t expect an early night either. The entertainment starts quite late, but it can still be noisy around the pool area until after 11:30pm each night. Maybe they could consider starting the evening entertainment a little earlier. The entertainment team work in incredibly hard but there’s always room for improvement. The comedy show needs quite a bit of work, and the children’s disco needs more variety as it was very repetitive. There was also a lot of constant upselling of things such as bingo, the spa and scratch cards, which became a little tiring when you’re trying to relax. Our room had no main lighting and no there’s no full-length mirror. There were very few facilities provided – just bars of soap and a dispenser. The bed was extremely hard, although the pillows were actually very comfortable. The corridor also smelled of smoke and each of the rooms had an ashtray in it. The minibar contained only a bottle of water which is topped up with more water daily, nothing else. The safe also didn’t feel particularly secure as it’s not even attached to the wall! You get a little pair of slip on slippers but no robes. Bring your adapters, there are no USB charging plugs. The cocktail list is minimal with half a dozen cocktails, although during the retro evening pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris were being served by the pool! There were some practical issues around the hotel too. More seating in the lobby would be useful, as would a games corner or indoor games room. There are some tables for chess which is a nice touch and a book exchange corner. There also aren’t enough plug sockets in the lobby. Unfortunately, in one of the rooms, the phone charger was stolen, and we were disappointed with the TUI rep and the hotel’s response. We were told we would have to take this up with TUI when we return home. The hotel just were not interested. Overall, we had some good moments, but there are quite a few areas where we feel the hotel could improve, particularly the entertainment, room facilities, evening noise, especially the sunbed situation and customer service when things go wrong. Unfortunately I would not rate this hotel a 4*. Its needs a lot of work doing to it as it feels a little tired.

Amazing hotel! Great food and drinks, great pools! Entertainment during the day and evening was amazing, brogan from the entertainment team was fantastic, one of the best and friendliest entertainers we have come across! Amazing family holiday ❤️
