We spent six nights here. We live in Ankara, and we have stayed in many Turkish resort hotels along the Mediterranean and Aegean. Let me start with the good. The food was among the best we have had. Multiple well-prepared fish, beef and lamb dishes. We only went to breakfast a couple times, as morning was the best time to swim in the sea. There were always two nice evening choices in the outside grill, and they offered very good beef and chicken döner. Salads and olive oil selections were good. The melon was generally hard and not very sweet. They scooped ice cream at lunch and dinner. The house wines were pretty good. We got to sample two à la carte restaurants. Both were the best we have encountered. Food and service were both excellent. In particular, my salmon was perfectly prepared. The second night my lamb chops were tasty, but my wife's chicken wings were outstanding. As I said, service was excellent. Our compliments especially to two very conscientious Mehmets (one in the main restaurant and the other in the Mangal A la Carte) and to Hüseyin, who we first encountered in the Terrace Bar (where he made an outstanding whiskey sour) then watched as he worked the main restaurant - he was both very friendly and a very contientous and thorough worker. The bar service was pretty good throughout, and the snack bars (pool and beach) were nicely varied. One disappointment was the mojito bar, where our drinks were pretty hastily made with thr bottled fruit flavor in a lump at the bottom of the glasses. Entertainment, in my view was not bad but not as good as some that we have seen. The music was quite loud, even in our 6th floor room. The attention to decorations was pretty good. Cleanliness was clearly a priority. People were constantly cleaning common spaces, and it showed. Our room cleaning was a little disappointing, and it seemed that the passages outside bedrooms could have been vacuumed more frequently. The bussing of tables in the main dining room and snack areas was above average. I noted prior reviews stating that the minibar wasn't properly replenished or that beer was omitted after the first day. This wasn't the case for us - our minibar was properly replenished each day. We encountered one instance of loud arguing at the Terrace Bar, which we reported to Guest Relations. I believe appropriate action was taken. Also, sometimes it seemed to me that the workers were trying hard but could have been managed a little better. As an example, the Starbucks coffee bar is combined with the Patisserie. While not a frequent problem, we once waited almost 20 minutes for the one server to get our patisserie items because he was consumed making 10 to 12 complicated Starbucks drinks. In this situation, it would seem that a second server could have been flexed to help. Amusingly, when someone offered to help, the one server said that he didn't need any help. The parking area was a little disappointing (not the first resort where we have felt this way). It was unpaved and got muddy when it rained. All in all, we felt we got good value and enjoyed our week at Bosphorus Sorgun.
