With a little effort, including cosmetic changes, this attractive, boutique property could excel. Amongst the positive features are the Hotel's beachfront location, its quiet/relaxing ambience and the support from staff. However, there is room for improvement, especially in the rooms. My room suffered from poor lightlng and was cluttered with dark, bulky timber furniture, some of which served no useful purpose. The feeling is like walking into an antique shop! Apart from sitting at the end of the bed, there are no comfortable chairs to watch TV. The wide lounge next to the main bed is more a day bed (eg for a child) and is unsuitable for adult seating. The chest of drawers in the hallway/entrance just fills space and restricts movement. Other shortcomings are the limited English (especially Australian) TV channels, apart from ABC news which can only be accessed on Youtube via a clunky search process. Netflix etc is only available if guests sign up for a subscription. Finally, although the breakfast selection is of a high standard, serving cold bacon & eggs is inexcusable. A couple of cooling fans in the breakfast area would also be a good idea - it may also disperse some of the constant mosquitos (coils are needed under the tables) In short, despite a recent refurbishment, further work needs to be done, particularly in terms of the interior design of rooms.

The Buru Rasa hotel has a colonial feel. The buildings are built with plenty of trees and vegetation surrounding them, and gives a feeling of peace, and away from it all Our room was on the first floor, and was large, with a balcony and bathroom. The bed was comfortable, although i found the duvet/sheets a bit warm, bearing mind the temperature. There is air conditioning in the room, as well as a large fan in the ceiling. The bathroom consists of a lovely shower, and also a traditional shower - a wooden barrel of cold water, and a basis to pour the water over yourself - very refreshing. The site leads directly on to the beach, where there are sunbeds and parasols waiting. The restaurant leads on to the beach, and having a meal on the beach is a lovely option. The restaurant has a good but limited menu, and is excellent in quality. The staff on site are very helpful and friendly and the site is constantly being cleaned, due to the amount of vegetable, including orchids. Overall it is an idyllic place, and ideal for relaxing. The only negatives we had related to noise, as our apartment was closest to the road. There was booming music into the night from across the road, and there was also some building work taking place on the site next door

The room was peaceful and beautifully decorated, with a cozy bed and a lovely atmosphere. I appreciated the cleanliness and the quiet—it felt like a personal retreat. Each morning began with a fresh, flavorful breakfast that energized me for the day. The variety and quality of the food were impressive. I also enjoyed relaxing by the pool, which was well-maintained and surrounded by calming scenery. What stood out the most was the genuine care shown by the team. It’s rare to find service that feels both professional and heartfelt. I’ll definitely return—and I’m happy to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stay that’s truly relaxing and memorable.
