My friend and I had the most wonderful experience of being transported to a different time, of the days of the early European settlers staying in tented camps. That is the setting at Capella Ubud! A very luxurious tented camp set in the jungle in Bali, we were met at the reception tent with a traditional Balinese blessing and then our Culturist, Sony, met us and showed us around the property and escorted us to our tent. We stayed in the Cartographer’s tent. This tent is quite elaborate, with authentic period decor but with all modern conveniences, including enough plug points at the bedsides for charging your devices! We also had a plunge pool! Throughout our stay, Sony was always reachable and always ready to offer assistance with anything we may need. He also told us about a small village temple by the river that we as guests of Capella had access to. We did go to see it and said a prayer. The officer’s tent is pretty much the gathering place for tea and then for cocktail hour later. There are a number of classic games such as scrabble and jenga and again the setting is just so beautiful! As far as dining, we had no complaints. Breakfast and dinner were very flavorful and satisfying. I would definitely recommend this gorgeous tented camp to anyone looking for a unique experience in a beautiful country!
