We love Casa, this year was our 3rd successive year and I'm hoping that management will take note of the issues I'm going to mention here so that we can make it 4 in a row next year..... The location is excellent, half way between Marmaris and Icmeler with plenty of bars/restaurants a short walk away. The dolmus stops at the top of the street (both ways) and there's a taxi rank just up from the entrance. The hotel itself is relatively small and modern with good sized rooms and balconies (the sea view rooms have stunning views and worth the upgrade). The pool area is generous for the hotel's size (you only have to walk up and see the pools at larger hotels along the beachfront to notice how spoiled we are at Casa), and the private jetty (my favourite) is great for chilling out and taking in the wonderful view of the bay, there's also a private beach. Drinks are waiter served all day on the beach and jetty. Housekeeping is excellent throughout the hotel and the staff throughout the hotel are what keep many people coming back, they recognise repeat guests and make an effort to engage, they are a credit to the hotel. Now the negatives that we found this year.... The food has definitely changed this year, and not for the better. There's more stew type dishes than the grills that we previously enjoyed, and the lovely adana kebabs have been replaced with cheaper koftes, although the donner kebab meat is still great. Don't misunderstand me, it's still very nice and decent quality but not as good as previous years, there's a lack of lamb and beef dishes that we previously enjoyed. The main issue for me was in the food labelling. I'm coeliac and have a dairy allergy so it's really important to me that food is labelled correctly, but unfortunately this wasn't the case this year. The QR codes didn't always scan and even when they did they excluded key allergens like gluten (as did the small cards on the servery), and I had to ask chef on a daily basis what was safe for me to eat because although some foods were not labelled as containing gluten, they were actually thickened with flour when I questioned chef. I pointed this out to guest services on day 5 of our 11 day break, and explained how serious this could be for someone with coeliac disease, and I was assured that this would be addressed, but sadly it wasn't. My choices were very limited, although chef was great in making me gluten free alternatives if I asked (but it all took so much time, and my husband had to wait for his food so we could eat together). A solution would be (as in other hotels I've visited) to make as many dishes as possible with cornflour/potato starch instead of wheat flour. Gluten free pasta and pizzas are available but they have to be ordered a day in advance: the pizzas are great but I don't really want to eat pasta when I'm in Turkey. It was nice to see coconut macaroons on the cake stand, at least I could enjoy an afternoon treat. Entertainment was not great, it was never the hotel's strong point but this year we saw a marked decline. There was no variety, too many dancers and acrobats and some shows lasted less than an hour. We waited 45 minutes for an act to start on one of the nights, only to be informed when we asked that the advertised act (Michael Jackson tribute) had cancelled - there was no announcement and no attempt to put on a disco, or other entertainment. Another failure was on rainy days: we had 2 days of heavy rain while we were there, and although tables were brought in from inside to try and accommodate everyone, there was nothing to do, no entertainment, board games, etc: the entertainment team were sat around the bar laughing and joking amongst themselves while the bar and lounge were full of bored guests. It would not have taken much effort to put on a quiz, game show, bingo, tournaments, etc. We have still rated the hotel as a 5 despite these issues because everything else was perfect, and if the food issues can be resolved we will definitely return next year. We'll haven't booked yet, we'll be watching the reviews from early season before we take the plunge.
