We booked this as a package holiday through Jet2 about a week before travelling, based on reviews and what other people were saying. Booking was straightforward and everything on that side was smooth. We arrived quite late (around 1:30–2:00am), and check-in itself was easy. However, the first impression of the room was poor — not because of the room itself, but the location. We were placed on a lower level overlooking what is clearly a service and maintenance area of the hotel. To be blunt, this is not an “unlucky view” — it’s the working side of the hotel. There was noise, staff congregating, smoking, and a constant smell of cigarette smoke coming up to the balcony. After a long day travelling, this is not what you expect when arriving at a hotel advertised as 5★. I’ve added photos of this area so people can see exactly what they might get. In my opinion, rooms should not be sold overlooking this part of the hotel in its current condition. It looks and feels like a back-of-house area, and guests simply shouldn’t be exposed to that. If this hotel wants to maintain a 5★ standard, that entire section needs properly screening off and staff break/smoking areas moved away. As it stands, it falls well short of what I’d expect. I went straight back to reception to request a room move. They acknowledged the issue but told us to come back at 9am rather than moving us there and then, which made little sense given we hadn’t even unpacked. The next morning, a different member of staff handled things much better and showed us alternative rooms. We were offered a much nicer pool/sea view room — but were told it would cost £85 to upgrade. Given the original room placement, this didn’t feel particularly fair, but we paid it to avoid the situation and enjoy the rest of the holiday. The upgraded room (4135) was excellent — great views, quiet, clean and exactly what you’d expect. Housekeeping were very good throughout, and any issues (such as the safe not opening one day) were sorted quickly. One thing worth mentioning is the air conditioning. During our stay in April, it wouldn’t go below around 20–21°C. From what I’ve seen since, this appears to be a general setting. Personally, I think guests should have full control over room temperature, especially in a hotel of this level. Another downside is the TVs. They’re not smart TVs, so you can’t connect devices or use apps like YouTube, which feels outdated for a modern hotel. Food was consistently very good. Plenty of choice at breakfast and excellent evening meals. Drinks were also great — EFES beer, cocktails, all good. The majority of staff were excellent — friendly, attentive, and couldn’t do enough for you. The entertainment team (John, Ethan and the rest) were particularly good and made a real effort with guests. However, the same cannot be said for parts of the management team. While a few were polite, others came across as quite dismissive and uninterested in guests altogether. Walking around in suits with little engagement or even basic acknowledgement of guests felt out of place, especially when the rest of the staff were working hard and being welcoming. It didn’t give the impression of strong or guest-focused leadership. The location of the hotel is excellent. Easy walk to İçmeler and not far from Marmaris, with plenty of bars, restaurants and the beach right on your doorstep. In terms of noise, you are in a hotel, so some level is expected. We did hear that rooms near lifts or the front entrance can be noisy, but in our upgraded room we had no issues at all. Overall, once we were moved to a better room, we had a really enjoyable stay. We don’t spend all day in the room, but when you do use it, you want it to feel like part of the holiday — not overlook a service yard. It’s a very good hotel with great staff, food and location — but in my opinion, a few key details mean it doesn’t quite meet true 5★ standards
