Recently returned after 10 days with a large family group of 11. The hotel looks very grand as you walk in and our rooms were a good size and very clean. First impressions were good. Nice sized pools and the slides were great fun, but they are not managed properly by the lifeguards, children push in or stay at the bottom in the way of other children and also still use them/climb on them when they are closed over lunch. This is so dangerous! A lot of reviews mention you have to get up very early for sunbeds. We arrived at the end of July and found for the first part of our holiday there will still some beds left between 7-8am, but the hotel got busier a couple of days before we were leaving and people were reserving from 6am and by 7:45am most were gone. The staff try and remove towels from beds that are not used for more than an hour to give other families a chance. Unfortunately, the food was not 5 star standard and the drinks were terrible. We really struggled with what to drink during the day, the cocktails are awful from the lobby & the pool bar. I’ve never been to a hotel where the cocktails are so bad. We stuck to beer, wine and spirits mixed with fizzy drinks. The separate cafe is lovely and provided very good cakes and coffee (these are different to the cakes in the main restaurant) Unfortunately, we all suffered with a sickness bug during our stay and it affected a large part of our group. We can only put this down to the food and drinks. Other families around the pool said their children were sick as well. The cleaners came in every day and did a great job. Our lovely cleaning lady (who cleans floor 2) really helped us with constant towels and sheets while me and my baby were unwell. I also agree with other reviews, there are lots of Germans and Russians, we found some of the families very rude and the children have no manners, pushing past people and not queuing for slides/food etc which was frustrating. However we didn’t find the hotel staff rude, most of them didn’t speak English but we used google translate or just spoke a couple of words rather than full sentences. The pool staff found it hard to understand what drinks we’d like so sometimes that was tricky. The late check out process needs reviewing for those with late flights or for people that are poorly and need their room. They inform you to ask for this as soon as you arrive to the hotel, so we emailed 2 weeks beforehand and a few days before the trip, then reminded them we would like at least 1 room for a late check out when we arrived. They then told us we need to come back on the last day at 9am to request this (even though all rooms are already allocated for the next 2 weeks) so at 9am on departure day they just tell us it’s not possible as the hotel is full. They could have honoured our request when they allocated the room list 2 weeks before arrival, or on arrival day but the process is just non existent. I noticed other reviews complained about this as well. Overall, it was lovely to have some quality family time, but it was the people we were with that made it great, not the hotel unfortunately and we would not return or recommend to others, a real shame ☹️
