Such a grand hotel!

Because our Dubai/Gatwick flight was aborted on 16 March as we circled Dubai, Emirates sent us back to Colombo, and fortunately put us in this lovely hotel. An unusual feature - airport type scanning before we could enter the lobby but there's a good reason (more later). Our room overlooked the pool and the Lotus Tower (gorgeous!), but the highlight was the buffet. For those of us with a sweet tooth (yup!) the dessert section was as close to nirvana as earthly possible. The swimming pool is the best of the 13 hotels we frequented this trip. As we were leaving for the airport (finally) 4 days later, we spoke with one of the duty managers who explained that he was on duty when the terrorists bombed the hotel on Easter Sunday 2019. Since then security had been tightened. Would we go back? In a jiffy, as it was a fitting end to a memorable month in Sri Lanka

From the moment we arrived, everything was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was vibrant, the food was beyond incredible, and the entire experience felt truly special. Every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented — easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had! A huge shoutout to Gayan, Sasmitha, and Iroshan — they made the night exceptional. Their service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was flawless, and it really made my birthday celebration unforgettable. If you’re looking for amazing food, top-tier service, and a night to remember, this is the place. Highly, highly recommend!

Had a wonderful dining experience at Lagoon at Cinnamon Grand. The fresh seafood and “choose your catch” concept made the meal both unique and enjoyable, with every dish perfectly prepared. A special mention to Sasmitha, Iroshan, and Kanchana for their outstanding service—attentive, friendly, and truly professional. They made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great seafood in Colombo.

Simply Delectable at Lagoon

It has been an incredible experience this evening at Lagoon. It was close family and friends get together made all the more special but the delectable food at Lagoon and the incredible service from Sasmith, Iroshan & Kanchana.
