I was nervous before we came after seeing other reviews but we all had an amazing time - no sickness, diarrhoea or otherwise. We ate everything, avoided ice in drinks where possible, didn’t sleep with the air con on, used bottled water for brushing teeth and made sure we all kept hydrated with lots of water and electrolytes/hydration tablets. We had no problem with the food and found the amount of choice quite overwhelming at times - the main restaurant on a night is not for the faint hearted!! But we all found plenty to eat all the time, even the fussiest of eaters wouldn’t go hungry. I do think, for the size of the hotel, the evening options could do with being extended. After 7pm is like no man’s land and is really quite a lot to navigate, especially with kids. Most nights I didn’t even look at everything on offer because there was just too much. Food options during the day were great - and much less overwhelming! The entertainment was amazing, and is definitely what helps make the hotel so good. We didn’t see many shows just because our kids were so tired, and everything was on quite late for them, but what we did see was fantastic. The daytime entertainment is amazing, too. The staff really work hard. KidsFest was one of the only ones we stayed up for and the kids loved that. The grounds are lovely and everything is very clean. Again, there’s always staff cleaning and tidying everywhere. Our room was great, we had a club duplex family room which was ideal for our family or 5 (two adults and three kids aged 7, 4 and 2). We did think we were getting one with two bathrooms, but apparently it’s luck of the draw whether you get a newer two-bathroom room or the older one-bathroom style. Our beds were made and towels changed daily (although we often were left with 2 or 3 towels when there was 5 of us which was a bit annoying!). We were, however, put in a much smaller room than we had booked when we first arrived. The hotel was overbooked and they had no rooms available. We had to wait until someone checked out of our room type and it was cleaned before we could move in. This really put a dampener on our first night and day, especially after a long day travelling and with 3 young kids. It was made worse by the holding room not having enough beds for us all, so we had to wait almost 1hr for someone to come sort another bed. Our first day was wasted back and forth to reception to try and get the room we booked, which we eventually got at 4pm (after arriving at 1am). Thankfully the hotel’s other great qualities redeemed this really poor first impression. The big hits with our kids were kids club (amazing choice of activities for them), mini disco, the fairground rides, the water park and slides, and the ice cream. The snack huts by the aqua park were amazing, too. Definitely try the waffles - they’re out of this world!! There can be a lot of queuing at bars and food places due to the size of the hotel, but we expected that in August during peak season. One thing that did surprise us was the sunbed availability. You could get down to the pool at 10.30/11am and there still be beds available. If you wanted to be poolside, I imagine they went early, but there was always space somewhere. Mosquitoes were a big issue, however it seemed we only ever got bitten when in the room. Overall we had an amazing time. There were a few minor aspects that let the hotel down, we felt, but the entertainment and kids’ activities made up for this.
