I travelled with my wife as a trip for our first wedding anniversary. Neither of us have done a relaxation holiday in the past but once we stumbled across Club Maspalomas Suites & Spa when looking for our holiday we couldn't resist. 10/10, we would do a million times again. It's a sensational resort that there aren't enough positive words in the world to describe. One of our main reasons for choosing Club Maspalomas was because we are a same sex couple and the reviews indicated it to be LGBQT friendly. Naturally we took this with a cautiously optimistic mindset but we came across multiple other same sex couples and not a single person made us feel uncomfortable. Not something you encounter often and it was just so nice to be able to be a couple (not talking excessive PDA here, just the fact we could introduce each other as wife/be there as a couple without it being considered out of the ordinary or being made a deal of, it was just a couple enjoying a holiday - how it should be!) On arrival we were given a glass of prosecco and then when we checked in (we chose the deluxe suite room with private jacuzzi and were not disappointed, as it allowed for us to have privacy when we wanted it). There was then a bottle waiting for us in our living room free of charge which was a lovely touch. You can see from the photos the beauty of the place - but you can't see each and every staff member who makes the place what it is. They are all so kind and went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be - from the check in desk (Xander I believe) to the poolside waitress (Marju - who was one of the highlights of our trip, such a lovely person, always giving 100% and genuinely happy to be helping people - she deserves a shout out because we really enjoyed talking to her) there was not a single staff member I encountered who I thought could have done more. There is ALWAYS a sun lounger available by the pool - any time of day. No rushing down at 6am to reserve. I think because each room has its own loungers this helps to reduce the madness round the pool. There is entertainment each night and even the owner was present during the party they put on for the Saturday night of our stay . He introduced every member of staff and thanked them personally. Then proceeded to remain on the dancefloor and get people up and involved (we were dancing with him to ABBA at one point!!) The public relations staff (we encountered 2 females and 1 male) were outstanding. They interacted and made sure everyone was aware of anything going on and just generally made you feel really welcomed. We spoke to the male staff member and he was so friendly, asked us where we were from and when we said how sad we were to be leaving, he reminded us to make a return trip (which we had definitely already decided we would do!) (didn't catch his name, but he was tall with brown/blonde hair and on our penultimate day he brought us a 20% off massage voucher to use in the on site spa if this helps identify him!) The resort is spotless and the rooms are serviced daily (if you want them to be, you can put up a sign if you don't want to be disturbed). If you do opt for do not disturb, the staff leave a little note explaining that you can call for them to come and service the room at a time that suits, within the specified hours - which is a nice touch rather than it being left until the next day without an option (although I am confident if these weren't left you could have approached the reception and they'd have arranged something). We had 2 massages each while staying at the resort and would highly recommend this, they're not overpriced and they are very good at what they do. Again, the staff are superb and make you feel very welcome. The bar staff were fantastic (again, we don't remember his name but the male who had lots of tattoos on his neck/arms was so lovely, always welcoming us back like he remembered/knew us and making the drinks he remembered we had previously!). The food is buffet service but it's not your standard buffet - every morning for breakfast and evening for dinner there were different options all of a high standard. With some constants such as the standard yoghurt/fruit, cereals, eggs (which were made to order for omelettes and fried eggs - I am still thinking about those omelettes they were so good!) and salad bar, bread rolls etc at dinner. We chose half board as we didn't want to worry about going offsite for dinner. Although drinks are not included, breakfast has fruit juices, coffee/tea/hot chocolate and even prosecco included! And still/sparkling water is constantly brought to your table for you at any meal free of charge. The drinks you buy are reasonably priced - around 9 euro for a cocktail and a drink such as coke or fanta is around 2.80 euro which I think is very reasonable. Iced frappelatte 5 euro, again, good value for the quality. There are also water fountains around the resort (filtered) that you can use and an ice machine as well and an on site small convenience store which sells 2 litre water for 2.20 euro (we thought this was very reasonable) among other items such as sun lotion if needed and also ice cream/ice lollies. Me and my wife were so sad to leave and it is almost a guarantee we will visit again. Its a child free resort which is another reason why we chose it - so the only reason we would choose somewhere else is if our plans to have a child come true! Thank you to everyone at Club Maspalomas for the best holiday we have ever had! We simply cannot recommend you enough and cannot wait to return.
