COMO Uma Canggu

I stayed here for ten days on a solo retreat holiday looking to improve my overall health. I chose the hotel due to its beach front location, excellent gym facilities (best hotel gym in Canggu) , ability to hire yoga and Pilates teachers and the fact they have a healthy cafe called Glow. What were the best things about the hotel. The staff were great. In particular there was one staff member on the front desk. I think her name was Ashri (hope I got that right) and she was just great. She just had a beautiful way with people and excellent conversational English. And I loved that every time I left the hotel someone opened the door and also when I arrived in a car. It is the little things that you notice that make you feel important. The spa is also excellent and I had some beautiful massages by a woman called Widia. I felt a real sense of deep relaxation and I don’t think I realised how stressed I was until after the massages put me into a better place. The front desk staff at the spa were also lovely and very professional. They keep in touch via WhatsApp with your appointment schedule and reminders. Thanks to the spa manager for recommending the massages that I got and checking I was happy. The gym is open 24 hours I think. Nicely air conditioned with every kind of equipment you could need. I had about three yoga classes and three Pilates sessions which were all one on one. A woman called Lauren who is Australian did most of them. She was very knowledgeable. I ate at Glow cafe most days. They have healthy salads, smoothy bowls, fresh sandwiches and bagels with no mayonnaise which made it easy to control my diet. Also a few healthy juice and kombucha options. Breakfast was good looking out at the surfers and it is a mixture of ala carte and buffet. My room was very comfortable. I appreciated the turn down service each night with water top ups. I have been back a few times to Como and I hope to visit again.

The hotel is very nice BUT, there is no Balinese decor anywhere on the property. The staff were absolutely amazing! They cant be faulted at all, so friendly and helpful. Pool was amazing, as was the food. Brekkie was a bit sparse, with not many choices, but what we had was very good (brekkie, lunch and dinner). There are plenty of alternative places close to eat. If you are surfers, the surf break is basically straight out front of the hotel. BUT, there are guests smoking and vaping everywhere, even in the restaurant.

Check in was attentive and the hotel was stunningly white and clean. I was accorded a king bed and the staffs were all very friendly and attentive to needs when you need them. The gym is up to date and clean. A lot of equipments and room for private training. The pools were clean and especially the one facing the beach is just amazing. Food was really good!! I enjoyed my meals tremendously so I can’t wait to be back

I can understand the feedback was mixed. Our check-in was seamless and the team was very welcoming. The first impression was lovely with the view at the beach and a clean facility. We are at the one bed room residence which the rooms looks pretty normal with the price tag. Rooms in need of a refurbishment to keep the COMO name. Breakfast- Good service and a mixture of small selection of buffet and menu selection. Coffee is terrible though. We spend the afternoon by the beach pool and around 30 percent of the umbrellas were not working which I observed some disappointed faces. While the team were trying to find umbrellas - the service was compromised. I had to asked 3 times for a menu. Overall was a good experience but not phenomenal. Quiet and peaceful.

As a family of 5, we stayed 6 nights mid of June. The absolute pluses — spa therapists absolutely amazing, gym & classes (the best bar I’ve seen at a hotel bar Como Shambala Estate’s Monica), healthy options and food quality at dinner and breakfast. Housekeeping is extremely thorough and thoughtful. Well done. The negatives that some guests have already alluded to — some of the facilities could use a facelift, ran out of daily specials at breakfast or late to serve. BUT the extremely warm service we received made up for all minor, minor imperfections. Ayu at Glo, Chef and Wellness Manager were just a few examples of the service. Some guests also alluded to the lack of spoken English at resort. Probably true, would suggest some basic English to Bahasa Indonesia phrases before you go — like thank you & good morning, went a very long way in getting us top notch service.
