Best hotel experience ever.

The hotel facility was impeccable. The decor was eye catching and classy. The hotel staff was beyond phenomenal. Every single person was knowledgeable about the property and the city. Everyone's advice for places to eat and things to do were wonderful.

Excellent San Juan option

Stayed there recently for a quick business trip and was pleasantly surprised. I was offered champagne at check in, which was a nice touch. The rooms were very big for a city hotel. The pool area was stunning and I found the service to be very attentive across the property. There are many food and beverage options and a lovely bar. I’d not hesitate to return to this property.

Fabulous week at in San Juan...truly exceptional!

I have stayed in 6 or 7 different hotels in San Juan, and I'm pretty sure I'll always stay at the Vanderbilt from now on. Not only is it gorgeous, grandiose, clean, conveniently located, and even fairly quiet (which I love), it's amazingly staffed. Enma and Delfin who are Butlers (if you're lucky enough to get a suite, my AmEx upgrade came through again, which it doesn't always), were truly exceptional. Very personalized and above and beyond, even though I'm boring and didn't do any activities. The bellmen and valets all so friendly, especially Alexander, and then the front desk staff and restaurant servers, spa attendants (Dylan, Marie and masseuse Lourdes) truly top notch all around. I don't do pool things but getting a chair and umbrella at the beach was easy and comfortable. The waves were fabulous, I'm a very good swimmer and of course they suggest NOT swimming out there, but everyone played in the huge waves safely. I went down the block to a quiet bay to swim laps, a short walk down Ashford. There are two AA meeting clubs, each a 20 minute walk away, great fellowship, daily meetings, in case you're a friend of Bill W like me. My flight home Saturday was canceled at the last minute (as we waited to board) and I looked at the line of 100 people trying to get new flights and decided - F that, and I called the Vanderbilt and said "I'm coming back" and they got me booked into another room for 2 more nights. That's not always possible, but it worked this time! Can't wait to return!

They only like white hispanics here

This place is horrible. And they only cater to Hispanic looking people. I'm Puerto Rican and I seen at least 7 people that are white that walked right up for the room. I'm black puerto Rican and I look African American they will make you wait for hours. Do not give this people your business. They are full of it.

Nice but overpriced

Stayed here for a few nights over Memorial Day weekend. Hotel is clean and we had a nice view of the ocean. We stayed in a renovated West tower room which was convenient for breakfast and the pool. Pool is nice and heated but chairs are hard to find at peak times. Service is slow although friendly. Activities and entertainment were limited and included yoga classes were only Friday-Sunday. Housekeeping seems to be an issue- our rooms weren’t cleaned until 3pm so don’t expect to check in earlier or come back to a clean room after being out all day. Although it’s a nice hotel, I expected more value for the cost.
