This was a stay for my fiancés 50th birthday. I Emailed in advance to request a high floor room, which we always do in any hotel for quiet and a sea view. Our high floor couldn’t be met but the lovely receptionist did say it’s a great room you have and she was right, although the odd scraping of chairs above was why I request high floor. If you’re a light sleeper the rooms in block B are noisy, we struggled the first couple of nights, the bathroom and kitchen do have open vents in the wall and the road noise can be loud. The room had everything you could ask for and more but is dated, even just a lick of paint would be good, but the bed is comfortable, shower is good and view is great. I have a couple of suggestions, the bar and restaurant closes if nobody is there by 8pm so if you return from an evening out there is nowhere to go. Why not do something to encourage guests to have a drink before they go out, maybe a happy hour or set up a cocktail area up on the Blue Orchid decked area to watch the sunset. Maybe these things have been trialled and were too quiet to accommodate in which case fair enough. Also the sargassum once dried out attracts flies, there are plenty of staff to tend to the gardens, why can’t they rake it up? There is a large supermarket close by so be sure to stock up on drinks you might need oh and food I guess! The restaurant food was just ok, however the fishcakes were the best I’d tasted. We ate at many restaurants and Worthing Food Court a few times which is good for a cheaper night out. Don’t overlook Corky’s close by, my fiance had a great steak there. The location really makes this hotel value for money and yes I would return but would only recommend it to friends if they manage their expectations of its basic charm.
