My husband and I, along with friends, stayed for 2 weeks at the Coral Princess. We have been travelling to Cozumel for the past 8 years or so and this was our first time at this location. It will not be our last! We had a one bedroom suite with a kitchenette (Room 808) and it was ideal for our stay. Great location within the building, quiet, a nice balcony overlooking the ocean and pool area. The rooms are not overly modern and are in need of an upgrade however everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. A/C worked well (two separate units - one for the bedroom and one for the remaining part of the condo). The unit was cleaned every day and the cleaning staff did a marvelous job. A 1 L bottle of water was provided each day - we were told upon check-in to NOT drink the tap water. The pool area was lovely as well as the beach. Extremely well-maintained and the staff everywhere on the property was incredibly friendly and helpful. We only ate breakfast at the restaurant on one occasion and it was excellent. Our friends ate lunch there a few times and said it was very good. There is a gym with some equipment (elliptical, treadmill and I believe there was a stationary bike, weights, etc). Although I normally use the gym each day, I did not here as I chose to walk into the downtown core and back each morning. An excellent walk where I felt safe (sidewalks are great) and met the same people walking/running each day. There are other restaurants in the vicinity that you can walk to if you chose but getting a taxi from the Coral was easy; usually one or two parked nearby or one cruising past that would swing in and pick you up. Never waited more than a couple minutes for a cab. My only negatives are as follows: 1) The water system needs an upgrade BADLY. When showering, you were either scalded, frozen or suddenly there was no water for about 30 seconds then it would start again. It wasn't just our unit - our friends were one floor up from us and they had similar experiences. In addition to that, when the toilet was flushed, often there was a squealing noise for up to a minute while the tank filled. I think all of this is just a case of old plumbing that needs replacing. 2) Smoke! There are signs everywhere - in the rooms, lobby, etc - stating NO SMOKING yet it was happening. I reported it to the front desk a few times as well as on the beach - one guy was smoking a big stogie! It wasn't until you said something that the staff would act. They acted quickly however they shouldn't have to - this is a no smoking establishment but people just seemed to ignore it. There was someone in the vicinity of our unit that was smoking either in their condo and on their balcony. Frustrating, because it meant we couldn't sit outside and get some fresh air. I would love to stay at this location again, on repeat! Just a really great stay with some minor glitches but all in all, excellent. The staff really made it special and they deserve a major pat on the back from the owners of this place. Well done!
