Courtyard Isla Verde Beach Resort

I loved the convenience and experience. Most of the employees are extremely nice and fun. The resort is convenient and the pool is wonderful with a nice hot tub too. Pool is 24/7. I was upset the bar closed so early especially since the pool is always open. Beach is nice and loved the hammocks. The casino is small and odds of winning were small. Loved the cafe colao they had nice coffee even though my coffee order was made wrong twice. Hotel room was clean and nice. Balcony and bathroom were really nice. Beds were awful. Everyone woke up sore each day. Overall because of the convenience and niceties that they offered I’d say 4/5. Better mattresses would really help. Also, construction was a big inconvenience while I was here. Don’t know why they would start at 7am … can I at least get a couple hours before you start banging away?? Lol

Weddings: The quality of the service was amazing, they help you with everything. They are super organized and have an amazing team. Amnel helped us a lot with the coordination of the food, snacks, drinks and gave great recommendations for other vendors! The venue was beautiful and was everything we dreamed of!

This may get long but it's worth the read if you plan to visit San Juan.... I visited PR in late May, 2025. We stayed in two different resorts - One that came highly recommended as the best place in Puerto Rico (in Fajardo), and at the Courtyard in Isla Verde. If we had to do it all over again, my mom (age 77) and my two daughters (ages 21 & 23) all agree that we would spend the whole week at The Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde. Don't let the approach to the hotel (which is very underwhelming) or the parking fees deter you. The staff, the beach, the bar(s) and the coffee shop make this a great destination. First, the beach. This hotel is right on the beach (though you'd never know it when you first arrive). Not only is it right on the beach, it's a beautiful, spacious and swimmable beach. This was not the case for other places we visited on the island. The kind staff at the beach will set up your chair and umbrella (no additional charge but we did tip!), and Alexander will bring you food and drinks all afternoon long! There's music, there's jet ski rental, there's a long stretch of sand to walk. The water had light waves (not surfable - wouldn't even knock you down, which we liked!) The beach is technically "public" but it was not crowded and the Marriott staff attends to all your needs. The water is a beautiful shade of blue and there was no seaweed to contend with (also not true of other places we visited.) The swim up bar has the nicest bartender, Antonio. He not only makes a mean mojito, he is funny and engaging. You could spend your afternoon sitting and talking to him. Don't get me started on the gentleman who works where you pick up towels. I didn't get his name but he is hilarious and helpful! We loved every encounter with him. All the food we ate was great. We did not use the casino, but the hotel has one. The bar in the middle of the lobby is beautiful and inviting. The coffeeshop in the hotel - best coffee we drank in a week (and we drank a lot). The salted caramel popcorn latte was amazing, but honestly the regular brewed coffee was the best I've ever had. Everyone at this coffeeshop is also super friendly. The valet - awesome, helpful, friendly. Being a 10 minute drive from restaurants in San Juan, also awesome. We loved Rare 125 and Lala. Renting a car is a good idea. However, when going to Old San Juan, take an Uber. Parking there is impossible (and expensive!) Our room was an 8/10... carpet could maybe use an update. Our partial ocean view room wasn't huge and had a large view of the lower building's roof. But the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was beautiful (great shower) and we enjoyed our balcony. We didn't spend much time in our room and considering the outstanding nature of the beach, staff, and facilities, even an 8/10 room equals a 10/10 overall rating when you consider the whole!

Best part of the stay- Close to the airport, maybe too close. There are planes taking off all day long. It's a beachfront property and no need to drive off somewhere to another city to enjoy the beach. Restaurants are fine. They could offer a varied menu on a daily basis but do not. Price for meals as expected at a hotel of this level. People are nice and calls about room problems are handled quickly during the day. I liked the valet parking also. Took a load off myself for letting somebody else do that Worst part of the hotel. I had a room on level 12 with a great partial ocean view, but the thermostat for the A/C didn't work. I lived with the problem after calling guest services because I did not want to change rooms. Also, I reserved a handicap room and this was not one. Not bars around toilet, no roll-in shower. I had asked for those specifically and told they would be there. They were not. But arriving at 11 pm on the first night all I wanted was to get some sleep. So I would probably stay again if the A/C were better and customer service could really provide a handicapped room.

I’ve now stayed several times at this hotel—both for business and for pleasure. In addition to being ~5 minutes from the airport, the location is a great home base to get to most places in the island. The restaurants and commons areas are updated and the entire property is right on the water. The pool is open 24/7 and has a heated smaller pool plus jacuzzi. One of the most impressive things about my stays has been the attention provided by the hotel’s Guest Services Director, Orlando Hernandez. Orlando is literally all over the hotel making sure guests are happy and things are running smoothly. He was interactive with my kids which they appreciated. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.
