A perfect hotel for children

31 Jul 2026
A perfect hotel for a getaway with children. The water park is stunning, the food is wonderful, and the staff is amazing and attentive. We celebrated my husband's birthday, and the chef prepared an especially impressive birthday cake for him! Highly recommended!

Fantastic holiday at Cyprotel !

31 Jul 2026
We had a fantastic holiday at Cyprotel! Great atmosphere, lovely staff, good food and plenty of entertainment every day. A special thank you to Ilan from Guest Relations for always being so helpful and reactive whenever we had a small issue. He solved everything very quickly and always with a smile. Thank you to the whole team, we hope to be back soon!

The most disappointing holiday experience, Definitely not a 4*

31 Jul 2026
I am never one to actually write a review, positive or negative. However my experience with this establishment has been so negative I do feel I am obliged to write a review so not to make the same mistake I did by booking this hotel. I visited the Cyprotel, Faliraki with my husband and 9yr old son on the 6th July 2026 and our stay was for 10days. Upon arrival to our room we were met with an overwhelming smell of sewage and drains. Our air con didn't work and our room showed severe signs of deterioration. The cosmetic aspect and even air con faults we were initially willing to overlook but the smell of sewage and drainage smell coming from the bathroom was unbearable. We raised this issue with reception first thing in the morning as we arrived late in the evening, we asked if we could move room and straight away the reception staff advised it wouldn't be possible to move rooms. Eventually later in the day the reception staff advised they would put chemicals down the drain to remedy the issue. This still didnt resolve it so again we persisted to ask for a room change and were eventually offered a change to a higher floor in the block next to us. We advised we wouldn't be able to accept this alternative room due to its location on the top floor and their being no lift facilities, we physically wouldn't be able to get our luggage up to the top floor due to mobility issues. We were then told by hotel staff that was all they would offer us and that we just had to keep requesting chemical flushes in our drains. We had to request chemical flushes 4 times during our 9night / 10day stay - this did not resolve the issue, it merely muted the smell slightly and requesting maintenance to come 4 times throughout our stay was something we felt shouldn't have been necessary. The cleanliness of the room was also a huge issue. Our bed comprised of two old mattresses stacked on top of each other. The bottom matress was not covered and had disgusting stains all over it. The bathroom had clear signs of dirt, mould, limescale and mildew which i have photographed and attached. The main bedroom was never properly cleaned and didnt look as though it had been cleaned in a while due to obvious dust and dirt build up. The balcony also was never swept the entire time we stayed there, which was evident from the sand which had fallen off our water shoes which remained there the entirety of our stay. I also have coeliac disease and this proved to be a major issue for the staff. I was advised to order from an extremely limited menu each day before 6.30pm. If I ordered after 6.30pm I was advised I would not be able to eat as it would not be enough time for the kitchen to prepare any food for me. Despite ordering my meals between 14 - 26hrs in advance, my meals took between 1hr 15mins - 2hrs 25mins to arrive each time. This i alternated the same 4 meals due to the extremely limited choice in food. I was unable to have any pool snacks, starters or ice cream throughout the entirety of my stay despite paying for an all inclusive board and I received 4 deserts over the 9 nights and each time it came out it had partially thawed around the edges but remained frozen in the middle - clearly going against food safety preparation being served half frozen food. I raised these issues during our stay with staff and then formally upon our return home. I received one reply from hotel management advising they were apologetic to hear about our experience but failed to acknowledge the key points of our complaint. They have since failed to respond to our follow up email. The service and standard of this hotel does not align with its 4-star service and is by far the most disappointing holiday we have ever booked. I am not typically one to write positive or negative reviews, but I do wish I had been forwarned before booking Cyprotel, Faliraki. This hotel should realistically be rated more of a 2*, 3* at a push. Very disappointed with our stay as a whole and with management's lack of response in dealing with these matters and service as a whole.

Stay away from Cyprotel Faliraki – mould, appalling hygiene, unsafe rooms and management that laughed at us

30 Jun 2026
Our stay at Cyprotel Faliraki Hotel in late June and early July 2026 was an absolute disgrace. We travelled with young children and paid close to NOK 70,000 for the holiday. The hotel is advertised as a four-star family hotel, but what we experienced was dirty, unsafe, badly maintained and completely unworthy of that rating. The first room was in such poor condition that we complained immediately. It was not simply old or worn. There were serious defects, and the room presented a genuine safety risk for a family with children. A serious and dangerous incident occurred in that room which should never have been possible in accommodation marketed to families. Despite the severity of our complaint, reception told us that the hotel was full and that we could not move until the following day. However, the hotel’s own website appeared to show rooms available that same evening. We were therefore left with the impression that helping us was simply considered too much trouble. When we finally received another room the next day, it was not an acceptable solution. The second room smelled of mould, and there was mould in the mattress. The room was damaged, poorly maintained and had several problems that we repeatedly reported. We were promised that these issues would be fixed, but they never were. The housekeeping was equally appalling. Dirty towels were hung up to dry instead of being replaced. Dirty bed linen was ignored while the beds were simply made again. The rubbish was only emptied occasionally, and there was little evidence of proper cleaning. My mother had to ask for dirty bed linen to be changed for three consecutive days before anything was done. On two separate occasions, the housekeeping staff also left her room door wide open and unattended after they had been inside. Anyone could have entered and taken her belongings. This was not a minor mistake. It was a serious security failure that happened twice. The swimming pools were disgusting and appeared poorly maintained. Clothes and swimwear turned yellow and were damaged after being used in the pools. Several items were ruined. Whatever the technical explanation may be, guests’ clothing should not be destroyed by normal use of a hotel swimming pool. We complained repeatedly to reception and later spoke directly with the assistant manager. Instead of being met with concern, accountability or even basic professionalism, we were met with arrogance. When we requested compensation for the mould, the unsafe conditions, the poor cleaning, the damaged rooms and the amount of our holiday that had been ruined, the assistant manager laughed and told us that compensation was not possible. He also laughed when I told him that the hotel did not deserve four stars. That reaction said everything. A hotel representative laughed while a guest described mould, hygiene failures, security problems and dangerous conditions involving children. It was disrespectful, dismissive and completely unacceptable. We were also asked not to discuss our dissatisfaction in front of other guests. The hotel seemed more concerned about other guests hearing the truth than about correcting the problems that caused the complaints. Before travelling, I read the negative reviews but tried to focus on the positive ones. I assumed that some of the criticism might have been exaggerated. I now regret ignoring those warnings. I genuinely cannot understand how anyone can rate this hotel 10 out of 10. Mould in a mattress, dirty bedding, reused dirty towels, unsafe rooms, unsecured doors, filthy pools and management laughing at complaints are not differences in personal taste. Anyone describing this hotel as perfect must either have experienced a completely different hotel or have standards that are dramatically lower than ours. We did not expect luxury. We expected clean beds, safe rooms, hygienic pools and staff who behaved professionally when serious problems were reported. The only positive part of the hotel was the staff at the pool bar and some of the employees working with the children. They were friendly and made an effort. Unfortunately, that could not compensate for the failures throughout the rest of the hotel. We spent far too much of our holiday complaining, documenting problems and trying to get basic issues resolved. We returned home angry, exhausted and feeling completely cheated. Cyprotel Faliraki is not a four-star hotel. Based on our experience, it does not deserve one star. Families with children should stay as far away as possible. Norwegian travellers should also avoid Solfaktor.no Our experience with Solfaktor.no was just as infuriating. When we needed actual assistance, they appeared far more interested in avoiding responsibility than helping their customers. Solfaktor claimed that they had sent us emails during the holiday. We did not receive them, despite checking our email regularly. They had our telephone number, knew that there was an active complaint and knew that we were abroad with young children. Still, they did not call when they supposedly received no reply. Their attitude was essentially that because they had sent an email, everything that happened afterwards was our problem. That is not customer service. It is responsibility avoidance. When a customer has reported serious conditions during an ongoing holiday, a travel agency cannot simply send an email, make no further attempt at contact and later blame the customer for not receiving it. Solfaktor was happy to take our money, but when the holiday went seriously wrong, meaningful assistance was nowhere to be found. Norwegian travellers should stay as far away from Solfaktor.no as possible. Finding a travel agency with worse complaint handling, poorer service and a stronger desire to shift responsibility onto the customer would be difficult. We will never book through Solfaktor.no again.

A pleasant stay in Rhodes – boosted to 5 stars by amazing staff

31 Jul 2026
The hotel is a relatively large, well-laid-out complex. The guests are mainly from France, Scandinavian countries, England, Poland, Germany, and Israel. The property is located about a 15-minute walk from the beach in Faliraki. Faliraki itself feels a bit commercialized. However, a major convenience is the shuttle bus that runs back and forth to the beach 3 times a day. The property and common areas are in need of renovation. Rooms From personal experience and conversations with other Polish tourists (traveling with Coral Travel), it seems that clients from Poland are usually accommodated in the unrenovated part of the complex. Our room was located in block 1200 and was relatively okay. The housekeeping deserves huge praise, as it was of a very high standard. The air conditioning worked, though on very hot days there were moments when it struggled to cool the room down properly. The beds were very comfortable, though in my opinion, it's worth asking for extra pillows. Dining I think everyone will find something for themselves here, although for my taste, there were too few local Greek touches during lunch and dinner – continental cuisine dominated. Breakfasts, as is often the case in hotels, were quite monotonous. The main downside was the restaurant's capacity during peak hours relative to the large number of guests. It could get very crowded, and the staff couldn't keep up with refilling the dishes in the food warmers. On top of that, quite long lines would form – for pancakes in the morning and for pizza later in the day. By the smaller pool, a Snack Bar operates from around 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM, offering ice cream, Greek donuts, savory snacks, etc. Overall, a strong point. Drinks – you have to try them and find something you like :) Don't count on premium, high-quality cocktails at this price point. However, I rate the bar staff very positively 👍 Pools and Service There are 3 pools available. Due to the relative peace and quiet, we mainly used the smaller pool near the reception. ✅ The excellent safety measures provided by the lifeguards deserve great recognition. A special mention goes to the lifeguard named Panagiotis – he perfectly managed momentary chaos and the overactive imagination of some guests during water acrobatics, while being incredibly helpful in every possible way 👍 He helped our daughter after she bruised her foot, and it is the first time I have ever encountered someone in a hotel who is so deeply dedicated to their work and warm to all the guests. It is entirely thanks to Panagiotis that I am giving a full 5 stars instead of 4. Thank you, Panagiotis, for your care and for keeping everyone safe 👍👍👍 The cleaning staff cleaned the pool areas regularly – however, it is worth paying more attention to washing and disinfecting the tables and sunbeds. Entertainment and Sound System We didn't use the daytime animation activities. However, it would be good if the entertainment team took care of working sound equipment – at least one of the speakers had a damaged cone and was crackling. I also found it rather disappointing when the head of animation (a man with a goatee and glasses) placed a regular speaker right at the edge of the pool and then scolded the children not to splash near it. In a place like this, the hotel should simply invest in high-grade waterproof equipment. The evening entertainment was fine, and we enjoyed the Greek Nights the most. Summary Overall, I rate the hotel positively – I knew what I was signing up for. However, I probably won't return here, as I prefer more intimate, smaller properties. Rhodes as an island is beautiful in its very essence and is definitely worth visiting (one or two trips might not be enough).
