I’ve thought long and hard about writing this review, but people deserve to know the reality before booking here. This was meant to be a very special trip for us. We saved and saved, upgraded to business class, planned carefully and chose Krabi to make memories in a beautiful place. Instead, Deevana Resort gave us a room that completely took the shine off our holiday. We booked a standard room , something we have done many times before in Thailand with absolutely no problems. What we were given here was shocking. Our room was on the first floor with no windows and no patio door at all. Just a dark, airless box. The ceiling was a sloping attic roof that made the tiny space feel even smaller and more claustrophobic. There was nowhere to sit except the bed. No dressing table, no proper space to get ready, and a cramped basic bathroom. But the worst part was the complete lack of storage. There was no wardrobe, no drawers, nowhere to put clothes, only about five hangers on a rope. For a 7 night stay we had to live entirely out of suitcases. That is not acceptable in any hotel, let alone one calling itself a “resort.” I honestly felt like I was backpacking, not on a carefully planned holiday. The room is decorated with pointless “style over substance” touches fancy ornaments on the walls and a huge decorative floor lamp that just takes up space yet nowhere practical to keep even the most basic belongings. What is the point of fancy decorations when there’s nowhere to put your underwear? We raised our concerns with reception immediately and were told, “this is the room you booked.” No understanding, no attempt to help. We contacted our travel agent, sent photos and videos, and even they agreed the room was nowhere near the standard expected for the price. Reception offered an upgrade for an extra fee, then told us they were fully booked anyway, so we were stuck. Yes, we booked a standard room, but after many, many trips to Thailand we have never experienced anything like this. Standard rooms in Thailand are normally comfortable and well designed. These rooms are not fit for purpose. I’m sure the hotel will reply to this review with a polite message saying they will “take my feedback on board.” But feedback can’t replace time, emotion and memories. This was a special year for us, a trip we worked hard for, and it was overshadowed by being stuck in what felt like a depressing little bedsit instead of the relaxing resort experience we paid for. My warning to anyone considering this hotel: read the details very carefully and don’t assume, as we did, that a Thai resort automatically means good quality. Deevana Resort has very low standards for what it charges.
