The hotel is rated as a four star but it really isn’t. It’s a perfectly fine three star but is some way off what it bills itself as. Everywhere you look something is a bit shabby, broken or not working. It looks like a couple of decades ago it was a nice place but no ongoing maintenance has taken place since. Bits of the roof edging are missing, bits of the pergola woodwork are rotted and fallen, the fountains feeding into the swimming pool don’t work, the lights beneath them are just empty holes and corroded up. The restaurant is not great. We stayed there three nights and were on a package including evening meal but after the first night we never ate there again. The menu if you are on half or full board is frankly boring, and small, and the food is middlingly average. On the upside, the location is excellent so you can easily wander out to loads of other restaurants or bars, and there is loads going on around it. The room was perfectly fine, but fine for a 3*, absolutely not a 4*. The staff are great and were all lovely, and for the location it is a quiet retreat. It’s a shame they bill themselves as 4* as if it was a 3 and you walked in you’d think that this is quite nice and good for what you expected, but calling it a 4* sets expectations which it can’t match.
