We spent a week at this hotel on B&B board, with a deluxe swim up room. We're a mother & daughter aged 57 / 36. We arrived late, around 11pm, and we were dissapointed to discover there was nothing to eat, and nothing nearby, so a heads up that if you have a late flight, get something at the airport! We were then told about the tourist tax, which was a hefty 105 euros - 15 euros per night for a 7 night stay. I'm sure this was in our holiday documents but we weren't expecting it, so again, be prepared for that. Our room was lovely - 406 - we requested twin beds which was accomodated. The room was plenty big enough, and the swim up option was perfect. The pool was really cold but it is early in the season / year! It didn't stop us, anyway! Breakfast was amazing. You can order eggs, omlette, waffles, crepe, salmon bagel, from the menu, as well as a huge buffet for hot food, fruit, cheese, pastries, yoghurt etc. Top quality breakfast! We only tried the pool bar for lunch once, and it wasn't for us - but we did only try the tuna s/w - just wasn't to our taste. Can confirm the cocktails are great, though! Entertainment was fairly quiet, there was a DJ on most nights, and an acoustic guitar/singer another evening. I was a bit disapointed that we didnt have any info in our room or readily available about things to do / what was local / trips out etc. When we asked at reception we did get lots of info and leaflets, but some of the trips (greek night, sunset at Zia) only ran on certain days so we missed a few trips that we otherwise may have taken. We would definitely recommend a 3 island boat trip - we used Christina and it was amazing! The bus that takes you from the hotel into Kos town runs I think every 2 hours. It wasn't ever on time - usually 15-20 mins late, but we weren't charged for it, despite the hotel informing us it cost 2 euros each way. If you don't fancy the bus - it could get really busy - then a taxi is 10 euros. The hotel can call one for you to take you into town, but getting one back can be a gamble - queue at Dolphin Square. Overall the staff were friendly and provided a good service. I would only pick up on Maria at the front desk / reception - she wasn't warm at all, didn't have much of a customer manner, and the blonde lady taking your room number at breakfast - seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else but there! We'd definitely return for the peace and quiet, and probably hire a car for getting around.
