Stay at Secrets Royal Beach!!

Stayed at Secrets Royal Beach for my best friend's wedding, and we had a lovely time! We previously stayed at a Secrets in Montego Bay Jamaica, so that is what inspired the choice to have the location in the DR host the wedding (and the bride and groom vacationed here a separate time and LOVED it). It is a BIG resort, especially if you explore the Dreams Royal Beach side. The whole bridal party did a Preferred Club stay, and once we arrived, two friends were sold on the upgrade to do the same. In the main lobby at the Preferred Club Lounge we had the BEST margarita - day one! I didn't catch the gentleman's name, but please stop in and get a marg with him. It def sets the tone for the week. Our concierge was Dayanara and she was AMAZING. There was some crazy number of suites in our party, between parents and the bridal party and she handled us all with ease. Plus her other assigned guests! She checked in with us constantly, and was super accessible via WhatsApp. Midway through our stay, I became a little ill (overindulgence) and she made sure to send a special tea and crackers for me to make it through the day. My husband and I were also slightly celebrating our honeymoon, and she made sure we had a special breakfast one morning. I think the entire concierge team was great, but Dayanara really made the experience for us. We were sad to say goodbye to her at the end of our stay and promised to come back, just to see her. A special shoutout to the bridal team - the photographers were wonderful, and Dani was our day of liaison who honestly took care of us for planning, rehearsal and day of prep. The main pool was super fun and lively, with activities and staff that were super attentive - Melvin at the swim up bar was my FAVORITE. He brought the good energy, great vibes, made wonderful drinks and was so fun and personable. He sang, he danced, he made you want to come back to him specifically. I think it was Angel that tended to us outside of the pool, picking up empties and bringing waters and freshly made drinks. He was another warm, friendly soul that we often looked out for. We really enjoyed the lazy river (just with no current) and the swim up bar on the preferred side. I think that bartender's name was Aris and he was also amazing, with excellent service. The beach was beautiful: private chairs under shade and a quick trot to the water. Yes with seaweed, but once you got past the one foot of seaweed you're mostly in the clear. But beware, people will approach you a few times about taking an excursion or to take pictures with iguanas and birds. That can get annoying, but we rolled with it. Some surprises: the amount of restaurants and how good the food was. We had Olio day one for lunch - the grilled octopus was DELICIOUS. So was the jerk chicken. La Riviera for breakfast was great: plenty of options and extras like a mimosa station and omelet station. We also liked Himitsu for hibachi. Friends of ours did the French restaurant Bordeaux and did not think it was anything to call home about. We had a large party for El Patio and they gave us a pre fixe menu without warning, even though we had to split between two tables. That was a little annoying, but we were able to easily pick other things. The water park was open at Dreams, so we got to enjoy that on our last day, although the lazy river also had 0 current and was full of people just stopping randomly. The night club was super fun, but plays a lot of the same songs you hear at the main pool all day. The sports bar was nicely air conditioned but a little small. We missed a lot of the entertainment at the main stage, but we heard it was super fun. Room service took about 30+ mins once ordered, although we had people in our party who never received anything. Also you have to call to place an order vs. on an iPad. Additionally, we were strongly advised not to drink from the tap, which we were not expecting. Overall, if you like all inclusive resorts that are adults only and want to go to the DR, then look no further than this resort. The staff were lovely, left our room alone if we placed a "do not disturb" sign on the door, we were given water when asked and had our room temp adjusted. Fabulous time at Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana

As I write this review, we have already booked a return trip for December 2025! We arrived at Secrets Royal Beach on April 27., 2025, Yarol welcomed us, he was very kind and professional, he showed us the map and layout of the resorts, when our butler, Brian, was busy with another guest, Yarol arranged for another butler, Irving, to take us to our room. He was so great and personable, he took us on a quick tour of the facility and told us about the amenities that were available ie: renting the pool or beach cabanas, where to get towels, where the restaurants, gym, spa, were etc. Also when we arrived, immediately Richard who was bartending offered a drink, we later saw him frequently at the Preferred Club Lounge and throughout the resort, he was always so sweet and friendly. Our Butler, Brian was excellent, he reached out to us everyday and anything we requested which was mainly extra water he not only handled it but checked in with us to make sure it was delivered Unfortunately, I forgot to write down our lovely housekeepers name but we were in room 3461, 4/27-5/4. She and the night housekeeper whose name I didn’t get were amazing. Our room was always perfect. We loved our room, there was so much storage space, we had room to comfortably put everything away. The food at all the restaurants we ate at was delicious! I wish I had the name of our waiter and his assistant at El Patio. They were so good. Although we never sat by the pool, Rosa greeted us every morning. She introduced herself the first morning as we were headed to the beach. She was soooo fun! You could tell she loved her job! Actually everyone we encountered casually and those we had personal contact with all appeared to love their jobs. Agene was our waiter at the beach most of the week and then we had Ruddy and Miquel. They were so attentive. Often times we didn’t even have to ask for water it was just there. Special shout out to Modesto at the breakfast buffet and Juan they were so delightful and fun. Modesto saved a table for us every morning and put flower petals on it. One day at the beach, Raphi approached to see if we would like to rent a cabana, which we did. The day we picked was Friday, he got it all scheduled and then he told us that was his day off but he’d make sure we were taken care of. And we were, Ariel took great care of us. We loved it! We ate at Olio 3 times, 4 actually, for the day in the cabana. Shout out to John Carlos, Jonathan, Kadelin, Elena, Medina and Gabriella at Olio. Gabriella and Humberto at Himitsu. Humberto even assisted in getting us seated quickly at Bordeaux. Elkin at Bordeaux. And Renso our sommelier. When we were at Secrets Royal Beach in 2019 at the preferred club restaurant, our favorite meal, was the Paella, we ate it at least 3 times. We mentioned it to Yarol when he told us about Olio. We told our butler, Brian, because we saw Paella was not on the Olio menu. He assured us that if we asked, that he was sure they would make it. On Tuesday night we had dinner at Olio, we asked our waiter about it and he went in the kitchen to ask. Special shout out to Chef Jose Louis, he came to our table to ask what we would like. He told us what time to come on Wednesday for lunch and he prepared it for us!! It was delicious. He delivered it to our table himself! Very special. We ordered room service a couple of times. Always delicious and our waiter who delivered was so upbeat and personable. Everybody I mentioned was excellent, above and beyond and represent Secrets Royal Beach so well. Sent from my iPad

Excellent Resort! Disappointing ocean.

The Hotel is excellent in all aspects! Service is outstanding! We paid for Preferred Club, and it was great to have a better room, two private beach areas, restaurant Olio as second option for breakfast, a very nice personal concierge but we almost did not use him, and some other benefits. On the other hand, we did not use the Preferred pool and bar areas because they were always much more crowded than the main area, taking in consideration the right people and space proportions. If one day we go back, we do not think we would pay for Preferred again, but that is a kind of personal opinion and needs. For the restaurants that we have been at, from 1 to 10, taking in consideration the high level of the resort, we will give 10 to Bordeaux, 7 to Olio, 5 to El Patio, 8 to Himitsu, 9 to Bluewater Grill. In our opinion, the most important part of a beach vacation is the ocean. We have very high standards for beach water quality, and we were extremely disappointed this time. We were expecting blue crystal clear water, and we got very cloudy with lots of sargassum. We were aware of the seaweed season, but we had been at other beaches in the world with high level of sargassum, and their water was still crystal clear. So, only because of the ocean aspect, we would not return to Punta Cana for beach vacation again.

Secrets Royal Beach is AMAZING

This is our third time to this resort and there is a reason we keep coming back. The resort is well maintained and lots of attention to detail everywhere, but the staff is what makes this place such an amazing experience. They are friendly and attentive and make you feel truly like you are family. Our butler Orlando was super helpful and made us and our guests comfortable. One of our favorite places on the entire resort is the breakfasts at Olio’s. Rafael was absolutely a joy to see every morning and we looked forward to seeing him each day! Juan was also great and Francis made us one of the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve ever had one morning. All week, Rander at the preferred pool made us feel like lifelong friends and entertained us with his humor and amazing service. The ladies at Coco cafe are like having a burst of sunshine with their friendliness when we went for coffees in the morning. I am quite certain we will be back here again!!
