Not a Dreams experience

This property does not live up to the Dreams brand. Upon arrival to walking the grounds to food, there is disappointment. The staff lacked overall finesse and a high level of customer service. The gelato machine was broken and had been for over two weeks- there were times they were out of food we ordered, and there was no real catering to the guests-there were no night pop-up drink stands or dessert stands and very limited/low level entertainment. Although the sargassum was nothing that they could help, there was no overcompensation for it- pool chairs were few, entertainment was non-existent overall, and several restaurants had poor service and long waits. We were told to use the app, which give inaccurate info about who was permitted and who was not to restaurants. The room was only serviced twice and lacked extra comfort- not enough robes/slippers, basic patio furniture with no cushions and there always seemed to be plates and cups laying around, which led to birds and other animals visiting. It was said that the hotel had been recently taken over by Dreams, but much more attention needed to be put into training, grounds, entertainment, and overall level of service. It was a disappointing stay.

Great Dinner at Bordeaux

We had a wonderful dinner at Bordeaux at Dreams Sapphire. Our server, Eleuterio, did a fantastic job and made the whole experience even better with his attentive and friendly service. He was engaging, personable, and truly made the entire experience fun. The food was delicious from start to finish. We really enjoyed the French onion soup, the pork medallions, and the salmon, and our absolute favourite was the crème brûlée. Everything was so tasty and beautifully prepared. It was a lovely dining experience and one we would definitely recommend.

Great for families, not ideal for couples

We stayed with our family (in laws, senior parents, and my sister in law with her family of 3 small children). They had their own issues with the villas (major construction) but I’ll speak to our experience (married couple, no kids). The layout was lovely. Not a huge resort but not small. It’s very clean. There are cameras everywhere. I felt safe at all times. Staff are very friendly. There are lots of activities for kids. The main pool is quite large. The swim up bar was lots of fun. The buffet was okay. We eat healthy and lots of protein. It was hard to find protein options for breakfast aside from eggs. I did like the omelette station. The fruit selection got noticeably smaller each day. The à la cart restaurants were lovely. We never had to wait long. (Either as a couple, group of 4 or group of 9). My father in law did get us reservations some nights but the nights on our own weren’t an issue. We were premium and didn’t see any real benefit of it other than having access to the premium lounge. They had top shelf liquor there. The food in there was very basic. I wanted to do the sushi class but we were told we didn’t have access to that area of the resort. We found this strange because they advertised the classes on the app and website. The coupons we got for bring premium we felt weren’t useful. They advertise $250 off but it’s maximum amount for say a massage or romantic dinner. We had a swim out room with ocean view. It was lovely and very large. I loved the artwork. Unfortunately, I slipped and fell one morning going to the washroom. There was a leak in the bathroom ceiling. We had told staff about it the day prior and were assured it was fixed. They turned the AC off and that seemed to fix it afterward but then the room felt warm. It was very windy while we were there so pack hair ties / clips if you have long hair. The pool restaurant was okay. Not a lot of selection and I had a child rip tongs out of my hands to cut me and take food. The blue water restaurant was good but some of the day shift staff weren't friendly. The wings were epic! The evening staff were amazing though for dinner and I truly enjoyed my meal. The resort is definitely family focused. If we weren’t traveling with little ones we wouldn’t have stayed there. The sports bar was more like a shoebox night club. Sadly no food at night. It was still fun though. The coffee shop was great for morning iced coffee but we never found the ice cream shop they advertised. We were told it was at the smoothie place, then told to get ice cream at the buffet. (Not the same). Not many lizards or iguanas like other resorts. Walking along the beach was wonderful but the seaweed got progressively worse each day. There were tractors out there trying to maintain it but it seemed like a loosing battle. They started piling the seaweed right in front of our view so that wasn’t pleasant. Would we go back? No. Would we recommend it to families? Yes.

Amazing Rooftop Experience

Travelled in March 2026. One of the best vacations ever due to the Rooftop Club area. We upgraded for $60 a day after we arrived. Stayed up there for 6 days. The breeze was incredible and the area was very peaceful and quiet. My husband has a disability and we travelled with a motorized wheelchair. The staff were incredible and helped immensely where they could. Lots of ramps available. A bigger resort so the chair definitely helped. Carlos, pool concierge at the Preferred Adults pool set up our first day with everything convenient for my husband. The rest of the days we spent on the rooftop of the Club as it was much breezier than the inland preferred adults pool. Angel and Brian rooftop pool concierges went above and beyond to make our days incredible. Angel even visited us on days when he wasn’t assigned to the rooftop. That is customer service and he became our family instantly. Vanessa was the person who set up our chairs and Bali bed every day with our names on it. She took so much pride in her job and ensured that rooftop was looking top notch before guests arrivals. On her day off, the rooftop didn’t look the same and you knew she wasn’t there. She 100% needs a shoutout because it was like she was rooftop manager up there with so much pride. Never seen anything like it. Yovani was another incredible individual that went above and beyond for us. As my husband couldn’t walk down the stairs to each lunch on the rooftop, Yovani set up an area each day for the two of us where we could enjoy our incredible lunch. Not only was he a great waiter but an amazing individual with a huge heart. The rooftop experience really made our trip and we would definitely go back. The chefs are incredible and the food was truly unique. Building 4 and building 13 both have 2 accessible rooms in them. And there is one room apparently in the club section. We were in building 4 which was far away. It was ok because of the motorized wheelchair but for someone who was just in a regular chair or using a cane, please ask for building 13 through your travel agent. They did mention that these rooms needs to be booked a few months in advance. Shoutouts for great service on the Rooftop to Santos behind the bar and waitstaff Francisco, Moises, Diana, Yovani and Victor. We thoroughly enjoyed our à la carte breakfast at El Patio where the duo team of Francisco and Moises was top notch. We also enjoyed à la carte breakfast and dinner at Bluewater. Shout outs for great service to Gumer, Alejandro and Isaac. We thank Diana Hernandez for such an incredible vacation. You went above and beyond to ensure we felt like we were home!

My wife and I visited in late March, it was our first time to Dreams Sapphire and our 38th visit to a Hyatt property. I have mobility challenges and used a battery operated wheelchair. The layout of the place made it extremely convenient to get around, it had ramp’s galore and feel confident with a scooter or wheelchair. We were in preferred and upgraded to the rooftop club for the last 5 days. It was a great choice and we kinda felt like rockstars. The rooftop was full of Bali beds nicely cushioned lounge chairs, Beds for two around the small pool, They also served a high quality lunch menu at your own rooftop restaurant. The experience was kicked up and the wind up there was so nice and refreshing. My wife and I enjoyed are dinners and drinks after, lots of singing in lobby and theatre was right there. Some of our new friends that make the Sapphire great: Blue water grill Gumer, Alejuandro Rooftop, Yovani , Santos, Moises, Vanessa makes things happen, Victor, Brian, Angel, Francisco, A great staff up there and we will return to Dreams Sapphite
