Earl's Regent Hotel Kandy

Huge property with well fitted furnishing, decorations and high ceilings in the reception and room! Need to walk to the next building to the room I was allocated via lift from reception. Room is spacious, sofa and balcony with beautiful view of the pool. The reception/restaurant block view from the room in the evening looked beautiful with well lit! Comfortable bed. Bathroom is clean. Restaurant served wide range of local and international food for breakfast and buffet. Restaurant dinner opening hour was at 7.30pm. I find that too late as many guest were waiting outside since 7pm. Morning breakfast view outside the restaurant in the garden was lovely with mountain views!

We found Earls Regent Kandy to be an excellent hotel. The staff and managers were always happy to help and fun to be around. Beers and cocktails were superb. The food was excellent. The hotel and views from it are stunning. Very comfortable and welcoming. Would love to return in the future. Also recommend Harry our gentle and easy-going tuk tuk driver for a real life tour of Kandy.

Beautiful setting...helpful staff. Service with a smile and the sous chef was awesome. The setting is beautiful with lovely birds and a few resident chipmunks. Clean rooms and helpful staff. Tasty Sri Lankan Guinness! Food had a good variety and the Sri Lankan cuisine was amazing

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The first day after check in we were told to wait for one hour for bath towels. After a hectic travel and no early check-in allowed by hotel this was a nasty surprise. Fridge doesn't work so in the hot climate we couldn't get cold water or cold drinks. The hotel ambience is elegant. Not luxurious. Room size is very good. Bed is comfortable. View is awesome. The buffets have a huge spread. Food is very very tasty. Live music artist was excellent. Made our dinner enjoyable. On second day we came back exhausted at night after a whole day of trekking, rock climbing etc. Housekeeping had cleaned the room. But toiletries were not changed. Outside our room the stale food plates and cleaning supplies were lying. Whole place was stinking. We called reception. They said call housekeeping. Then they said call restaurant. Then they again told to call reception. Finally after 1 hour we ourselves went to Manager to complain. He made sure the work was done. This morning we have checked out. My husband forgot keycard in the room. I didn't know this. As I was boarding my bus the receptionist came running after me demanding keycard. Gave me a feeling like I am a criminal running away. I told her I don't have it. Very unpleasant feeling. The staff needs lessons in hospitality and guest relations. Maybe language barrier is there. So I rate them average. Lot of scope for improvement.
