Situated by the white, sand beach on the southern shores of Khao Lak and overlooking the crystal waters of the Andaman Sea, this hotel can be found. The resort is overlooking the Andaman Sea Southern Thailand Coast. A perfect drive just within one hour from Phuket International Airport or A second option landing through Krabi International airport which approximately one and half-hours' journey. Eden is the place where friendliness, happiness, and caring for guests. We arrived at Eden Beach on March 20th as two adults and two children (10 months and 3 years old) and stayed in a room close to the beach and main restaurant. We had booked a transfer from our previous hotel to arrive precisely at check-in time (2 PM), but when we got there, the room was not ready. It took until 3 PM before we could access the room, and we weren’t the only ones waiting—another group was also sitting around waiting for the cleaners. Not great… and certainly not what you’d expect from a 5-star hotel. If you are an hour delayed, you tell your guests they can go to the Deli/cafe and grab a coffee on the house. When the room is ready, you then move their luggage there immediately and escort the guests to the room with the keycard. You don’t ask them to go back up to the reception, hand over the keycard, ask the guests what luggage is theirs and so on. It’s soo easy (and important) to create a great first impression. This was not great. The hotel is positioned mostly on a hill, making it quite steep with lots of stairs—not ideal for strollers. They do have a long and steep “road” that runs all the way from the beach/pool area up through the resort, so you can get around with a stroller. However, it’s more of a service road, with a fence on one side and the back of buildings on the other—not exactly guest-friendly or inviting. Pool & Outdoor Areas For us, the whole main pool area was uninspiring and overcrowded. It’s essentially just one pool, and another pool area was closed off for some reason. There was also visible algae in the pool, which wasn’t exactly reassuring. The grass areas around the pool were also worn down and patchy, adding to the general feeling that the place is quite used and in need of maintenance. There seems to be a more private pool area for certain rooms, which looked much better—something we should have prioritized. Noise & Room Issues A big surprise, considering the hotel’s rating, was how loud it was in the room. We stayed in C and could hear full conversations from the hallway as if people were inside our room. At one point, we were convinced the door was open—but it wasn’t. The air conditioning was also too loud for a 5-star resort, making it difficult to sleep. This may have been an issue specific to our room, but still not what we expected. Beach & Baby-Friendliness The beach area was disappointing, with too many dogs, making it uncomfortable to stroll with a baby. The entire resort is not very stroller-friendly—there are staircases everywhere with no great alternatives. This made it difficult to get around with small children and was something we wish we had known in advance. Service & Dining On a positive note, we did enjoy great pizzas at their little Italian-style restaurant, and the Deli was very nice. Final Decision We had booked 5 nights but decided to leave after the first night. The staff was helpful with arranging a partial refund, which we greatly appreciated. This was our fourth hotel during our trip in Thailand, and unfortunately, the poorest quality.
