Eden Roc Miami Beach

We stayed a week at the Eden Roc in February, and quickly learned why the rates were lower than other 5 star Miami Beach hotels. In retrospect, I think the hotel was very understaffed, poorly trained employees, and low morale. Our gripes: We never saw a doorman or baggage helper during our week-long stay. The hotel was overrun with business conference groups, and consequently the lobby bathroom and smelled. The breakfast buffet was greasy, stale supermarket type pastries, and the servers usually forgot our coffee/juice orders. Chaises were always available because around 12- 1:00pm the sun was blocked by the building, thus the pool and deck were dark and chilly all afternoon. We leave a good tip for housekeepers every morning, yet the room wasn't cleaned until 3-4pm, and amenities not replenished, and management could not rectify the situation. My biggest gripe was the Spa -- the reception area was old and dark, and I was turned off by a front-of-the-house attendant who had a mass of oily hair, full of dandruff, bad acne. To their credit, the hotel management tried hard to please us.

Hotel room was clean and typical. The room had a beautiful view and the hotel is situated in a nice area. The beach was nice and pool convenient and fun. Typically, we like to eat on-site and explore for fun. After spending $10 on a bottle of water and an ungodly amount of mediocre food we decide to eat off site for the remainder of our trip. We frequently Miami often and we have wanted to try the Eden Roc for a long while. There are a ton of other hotels in the area that are just a nice or better with much more reasonably priced food and drinks that far exceed the quality of what we experienced.

I don’t know what to say other than thank you to Gaby Bernal and the entire Eden Roc staff! What an amazing 25th wedding Anniversary! My wife and I met at the Eden Roc 26 years ago. We decided to hold off on a big trip until next year, and since we still live in South Florida, we thought it would be fun to stay a night where we first met and then hit some of the fun spots on Miami Beach, where we first lived together. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer! Gaby was exceptional with her customer service and attention to detail, getting the room romantic ready on a moment’s notice! Everyone was so friendly and truly happy for us and excited that we were there celebrating, and literally standing in the exact spot where we met over 26 year prior. Our room was the best in the building, with unbelievable picture perfect post cards views stretching more than 180 degrees, with endless views of the ocean and the Miami Beach skyline. It was remarkable! My wife and I could not helps but feel, enjoy and embrace the love we were show by everyone, especially Gaby. Honestly it felt like something out of a movie, it was just that unreal. Plus the location is just perfect. The walk on the boardwalk stretches for mile. The white, beach is footsteps away. Every ocean sport imaginable is right at your finger tips. Plus the spa is unreal and so beautiful! While the hot tub could have been hotter, the steam & dry sauna were perfect. But it was the 12 headed shower that was the star of the show! Well worth the $75 for the day pass! At night we hit the ultra trendy restaurant down the road, Pao, which was spectacular! We also stopped by the synagogue where we got Married, Temple Emanuel. Then it was off to Lincoln Road for a stroll and a late night slice of pizza at Joe’s, which was absolutely incredible! We hit Häagen Däaz on the way home so I could have a second dessert and then finally stumbled back to the most cozy bed, with the softest pillows ever! The view of the sunrise woke us up. I I played guitar in the balcony in the breeze and in my luxurious robe! I only wish we had time for a tub, which was huge, but the shower with the view of the ocean wasn’t too shabby! It was 24 hours of pure Miami Beach Bliss!! The next time you’re going to Miami Beach, do yourself a favor and stay at the Eden Roc. Be sure to splurge a little and spend the money on the ocean view room. And if it’s your anniversary hopefully they will take care of you like they did my wife and I. Just be sure to ask for Gaby and tell her that I sent you! She’ll treat you like family only better! But, just remember to take care of her too! 😉

Great location !!! Unfortunately, this is all this hotel has going for it. I felt that the service provided by the staff was poor, and at times, they were rude to us. Our room wasn't cleaned one day when this was queried with reception, we was told 10 minutes and it would be sorted, I had to call reception again over an hour later which no one knew what I was talking about after explaining again the room was 'cleaned' - the bed was made at 8pm. The staff spoke and understood very little English, the Valet, door staff very rarely acknowledged us a simply 'Morning' would be pleasant. Whilst people watching by the pool, it is clear the staff know who the popular guests are - not all guests are treated the same.

I have been coming to Eden Roc Hotel for many years either for business, pleasure with family etc. There are a lot of options and I found this hotel the most pleasant because of the ease of getting in and out with my car. Any time we wanted to drop in, out, etc my car was there fast, beyond a friendly reception from our favorite Jean. I was very disappointed to see on my last trip that he is no longer there and also found the parking experience to be slow, difficult and I had to wait out in the hot sun where I never had to previously. Jean knew us by name, our whole family and treated us like family. Now that he is no longer there and my last experience I am rethinking exploring other options. Bad move on part of hotel to let this happen.
