It was also chosen as one of the top luxury hotels in Mexico, in addition to one of the trendiest hotels. Playa del Carmen has no other hotel that has won all these top three categories. El Taj has also received recognition from The New York Times and USA Today for its design, luxury, and excellence in service. We are not an all-inclusive Ritz-type resort, but we are considered to be the best of the area's hotels. Playa del Carmen has a lot to offer, but nothing compares to El Taj. El Taj's luxury units have one to four bedrooms that feature huge living rooms and fully equipped kitchens with private outdoor hot tubs on many terraces. Great 6 days in Playa Del Carmen 2026

Just got home from a wonderful trip to Playa Del Carmen. We chose El Taj Beachfront condos for our stay - We were in 337 and we had 3 bedrooms with 3 baths. Outside was a hot tub for our unit, tables and lounge chairs. The inside was lovely and all rooms had their own control of their temperature. Beds were comfortable and we were right above the restaurant, pool and the few beach chairs. There is really not .... lots of rocks and the fishing boats, scuba boats tie up here for the evening. The food at ASI (??) the restaurant below was really great for breakfast. We were just a block from The Martini Bar (my favorite) and a small two blocks to 5th Avenue. It was very centrally located. There were 4 of us and we really enjoyed the condo and its amenities. We will be back the next time we all want to stay together. WE had a washer/dryer, dishwasher, coffee maker, access to beach towels etc.

My husband and I stayed five nights from Jan 24-Jan 29 in unit 320 2-bedroom penthouse with rooftop terrace It was beautiful, clean and comfortable (not the couch) Pros: Rooftop Location Views Concierge services - groceries upon arrival, golf cart service, transportation Comfortable beds Coffee for more than one pot Kitchen amenities Noise machine Fans Hot and cold water drinking system Cons: Elevator not working 51 long deep steps to unit - more from lobby and to terrace- especially tiring after a day of exploring No blue tooth speaker No beach or much pool space but they’ll help you with other beach options All in all a great place! Restaurants just off 5th Ave - affordable and good Lido- good food and view ASI-snacks and drinks Los tabernacos- sports bar - fun snacks and beers El gober- tacos/drinks 4 Elements-dinner, night ambience and concept Chelada del playa- brewery You can also walk to Walmart Perfect time to stay and we’ll be back!

Fantasic Resort Condos in a fantastic location!

My wife and I stayed here from December 12th - December 17th along with another family. The suite (349) - Perfect for families! Amazing! Very large that offered: - A master bedroom with its own full washroom and shower - A second bedroom with two beds with it's own full washroom with shower - Smart TV in each room - Private Hot tub on large balcony area - In suite washer/dryer - Full kitchen to include fridge, oven/stovetop, microwave, toaster, water cooler, Island counter top for dining, dishes. - Spacious living area with very large couch Gounds: Excellent scenery, 2 pools and a hot tub, one pool has a great view of the Sea! Area: One block from sea one way and one block to 5th Avenue the other, location could not better! Pros: Amazing staff ready to answer questions 24/7, location, spacious living quarters, restaraunts and shopping super close! Cons: A pull down shade should be added that guests could option to pull down giving privacy while in the hot tub area on the balconies. The units accross from you are clearly visable and as such so is yours. Beach area is not prime for swimming due to boats docked in the water, although that issue is solved with a 10 min walk. We would absolutely return!

– Good service and cleanliness, but the pet fee is unjustifiable

The hotel is very clean, the staff is nice and attentive, and overall it offers a pleasant stay. However, the pet fee is high compared to other 5-star hotels in the same area. For a mid-range hotel, this fee simply doesn’t make sense. If you’re traveling with your pet, be prepared for a steep extra charge, or consider staying elsewhere — you can easily find other high-quality hotels nearby that are with lower pet fees or no fees at all. Everything else about the stay very good, but the pet fee truly stands out in a negative way. I hope management reviews this policy soon, because it’s the only factor that would make me hesitate to return or recommend this place to fellow pet owners. El hotel es muy limpio, el personal es amable y atento, y en general ofrece una estancia agradable. Sin embargo, la tarifa por mascota es alta en comparación con otros hoteles de 5 estrellas en la misma zona. Para un hotel de gama media, esta tarifa simplemente no tiene sentido. Si viajas con tu mascota, prepárate para un cargo adicional elevado o considera hospedarte en otro lugar: fácilmente puedes encontrar otros hoteles de alta calidad cercanos con tarifas más bajas o sin costo por mascota. Todo lo demás en la estancia fue muy bueno, pero la tarifa por mascota realmente destaca de manera negativa. Espero que la administración revise pronto esta política, ya que es el único factor que me haría dudar en regresar o recomendar este lugar a otros dueños de mascotas.
