We chose Element Ubud because of its strong brand reputation and family-friendly reviews, but our current stay has been disappointing. Our check-in time was 3:00 PM, yet when we arrived at 5:00 PM after a long day of travel in the Bali heat, the room was still not ready. The situation was initially handled quite casually and only taken seriously after we firmly raised the concern, which was especially difficult while traveling with a child. We were assigned a “pool access” corner room that is essentially a ground-floor room with very limited and indirect access to the pool, not what one would reasonably expect from this category. We also noticed other pool-access rooms appeared unoccupied, and the same room type is still bookable online, which contradicts the explanation that the hotel was fully booked. We were offered a complimentary lunch as compensation, but during a short two-day stay guests are usually out sightseeing, so the gesture felt impractical rather than a meaningful resolution. The only positive aspect has been the very kind and helpful pool and restaurant staff. Overall, this experience has been far below what we expected from the Element/Westin (Marriott) brand.
