April 12th 2026 myself, my wife and our 1.5 year old son landed in Aruba around 3:15pm from Toronto airport. The Air Canada shuttle was provided with clear signage from a gentleman at the airport and we boarded a De Palm bus after a 5 minutes wait for another bus to pull up and then another 10 minutes sitting in the bus waiting for other travelers. It was air-conditioned inside so wasn't too bad. We were the 3rd or 4th stop after a few previous hotels on the way so the drive wasn't that long. As we arrived to the hotel it started off not the best as we specifically booked a 'Patio AND pool view with King bed. This was important with our small child as we wanted a place to relax on the bottom floor close to the pool while my son napped and went to bed early as well as ease of access in and out with stroller. We were immediately told at check in that the room was not available and that we were upgraded to a deluxe ocean view on the 7th floor. If it wasn't for our child we would have taken it but that's not we we purchased. They said they had room 101 available on the first floor but it needed 30 minutes to be inspected/cleaned. That's fine we said but wasn't happy after getting off a long flight and it ended up being an hour sitting in the lobby with a tired/hungry child with all of our luggage. After they had told us the room was ready we walked in to find the room was in fact not a pool view at all and the patio backs on to the main road. This is concerning on many levels. One, the girl at the desk said all her level 1 floors are pool view but 101 and 102 I can tell you are impossible to see the pool from the patio as they are on the other side of the building adjacent to the road. The traffic noise was busy, and I was concerned for my child to play in the back patio how close it was to the road, this room should not be available to guests, it was very unpleasant. Oh and it was 2 double beds instead of the king we paid for. Ultimately, The girl at the front desk said they had room 105 available but not for another two nights which we accepted as there was no other option. The room was still only two double beds and not King. We were not offered any compensation for the room we paid for and we never received which was Patty one pool with king bed and they refused to give it to us and said it was not available as we booked it well in advance. You can imagine our rough start to the trip as we had to figure that out, but once we move to 105 we were satisfied with our patio view of the pool and was much quieter and further away from traffic. Overall, if we started out at the correct room it would have made our overall view a lot better, but clearly there was some management issues regarding booking that could have been dealt with better. If a occupant requests a crib and on the first floor I would recommend them not to change that room because clearly they have reserved that for a reason. To start off on talking about the food at the breakfast was fabulous, some of the best breakfast buffet I've ever had at a hotel. Ever had lots of options? Fresh fruit. That was a highlight of the morning to start off everyday. One thing is the crows or birds tend to become a problem sometimes but there is nothing really you can do about it. Maybe if they tried bringing in people's empty plates more often that would attract less birds, but they were eating off people's plates once they left pretty quickly. The pool was also a highlight and overall we picked this place because there is no other place that offers sweet rooms. A great location in between Palm and eagle Beach. Short walk to the main strip and superfood as well as having a low-key vibe on the pool grounds and hotel itself. Every morning the pool cleaners were out and it was a immaculate time swimming. Although there isn't much shade areas when you're in the pool, which was okay but just something to be warned about during mid day and onward. There was one other small issue where where maybe I could have researched it a bit more, but the kids zone was one of our main features where we picked this place where we thought that we could hang out with our 1.5-year-old son in the kids area just to cool off in the air conditioning play area. But we were told it's only ages 4 to 12, maybe I missed that during the booking but I thought if we were allowed to be in there with him even for 10-15 minutes to play that would have been fine. But the girls working the kid zone said no that they don't do that. I think that's something management should look into and possibly let parents come in or even have another special area where kids can kind of cool off and play. As we found that was one of the drawbacks of the location is there's not much to do in terms of inside play relaxation. We found the free drinks to be okay but the time of them we sometimes often missed as that's when we eat dinner and prep our son for bedtime. It was 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. We would have liked to see an earlier or later extension time and also would have been nice to get other drinks other than the two designated cocktails. It would have been nice to just get one Balashi beer for a ticket instead of having to get it a cocktail. We have to shout out our cleaner. I don't know her name but she was our room cleaner for the whole week and multiple times we came back to a sink full of clean baby bottles and utensils that we brought with us and we never asked her to do that and she went above and beyond and keeping our room clean and satisfactory to us. We do note that the floors aren't vacuumed or cleaned everyday which was fine, but just a heads up if some people are expecting that. I don't think they do that. Having the Starbucks in the hotel was a plus. If we wanted to grab a coffee during the day. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and welcoming. One of the big big surprises for food we actually ate at the splash grill three or four nights just of how easy it was to go and order something for takeout and then bring it back to the room. The chicken sandwich and pizzas were fabulous. Great price and we just didn't find it beneficial to eat elsewhere as we wanted to keep getting other things off the menu. Highly recommend the splash grill. One other small drawback we found was the beach sand itself wasn't as maintained as some other hotels. We stayed in Aruba in the past. We did find a few bottle caps and cigarette butts. Aunt debris in the sand where my child played, but we just kind of sifted through it for a couple minutes before we got his toys situated and it was fine. But it's definitely not that pure white sand that you can find on eagle Beach. I would recommend bringing water shoes as there is a little bit of Rocky areas on the beach but I can tell that they are trying to maintain it but would like to have seen a more walkable Beach portion other than the small white sandy area everybody seemed to gather there. Overall, we would definitely come back with children but if it was just a couple looking to stay here I wouldn't. It's very oriented towards families and the pools can be busy sometimes with kids. Honestly, once we got past the initial booking fiasco it was fine. But just a little disappointed that we got that initial room and that we never got our pool, patio and King room that we purchased.
