We returned about a week ago from an excellent stay at Excellence Oyster Bay. We have stayed in several other Excellence Properties and even got married at Finest Playa Mujeres and I can confidently say that Oyster Bay is our new favorite and that we love Jamaica! As others have said, the vibe in Jamaica is more relaxed and on island time versus the slightly faster pace of Mexico, however we found that we preferred it and relaxed more. We stayed for 7 nights in the Excellence Club, which I highly recommend at this property as it gives you access to two EC Lounges and Restaurants (Zenith & Magna) as well as two EC pool areas and beach areas. We found ourselves going from beach to pool and back again throughout our stay. Dwayne and Kendra at the EC Pool provided great service and conversation, and Brandan & Alex set us up with amazing beach beds daily in the EC Beach area. Shout out to Shanice too in the EC Lounge at Magna, she is a fabulous bartender and very entertaining. There are two "natural pools" on property where there are paths into the sea with no sea grass that take you to clear turquoise water "pools" in the ocean with lovely sandy bottoms where you can just float and relax. Be sure to check them out if you like to swim in the ocean. If you are in the main pool the entertainment crew is also a delight and seem to strike the right balance of engaging guests to participate and entertaining guests by performing. Shawn the bartender at Sol / Blue will also make you a great Bob Marley. If Jamaican Night is on the schedule during your stay do NOT miss it! It is a fabulous buffet of Jamaican food, along with performances from the Excellence Dancers with a history of Jamaican Music through the years, followed by a Bob Marley Tribute Show (They bring in fairly big reggae artists to perform, so if you are a fan of reggae you will really enjoy this!) We started most days at the Kitchen Table with a delicious breakfast buffet followed by coffee from Aroma made by Dana. We also had great meals at Zenith (with great service from Gary) and Che Isabelle (with great service from Nicholas). Our favorite restaurant on site though was Caribbean Grove, the amuse bouche starter of ackee dip and plantain chips is sooo good! We did order Room Service two times during our stay and both times it was hot, delicious and some of the best quality room service I have had at any hotel, much less an all-inclusive, granted at Club level you do also get a few additional menu options for Room Service. We took the sunset cruise / swim in the bioluminescent bay (luminous lagoon tour) scheduled through Seasons tours on site. This was a lot of fun and an amazing experience. It's also located really close to the resort and they pick you up from the EC Beach at Magna. Our room and balcony were very comfortable and clean. Everything worked and we had no issues with A/C or broken items in the rooms. Personally, I was not a fan of the l'occtaine amenities they provide in the pump bottles in room as I did not feel like anything rinsed or cleaned well when showering. This is personal opinion though, and the scent is very pleasant. We did visit the spa during our stay and had 75 minute Excellence Massages and did the hydrotherapy wellness circuit. Malik was a calm and relaxing guide through the circuit which made it extremely enjoyable. Overall, we are already planning our next trip to Excellence Oyster Bay, likely for later this year.
