I don't usually write reviews on places I go to, just because I feel everybody's expectations may differ, but thought I should write one for this hotel after my stay. I was travelling with my partner and 2 kids, aged 13 and 15. Landing at Rhodes Airport was a bit of a farce and had long ques, this was annoying as it was a late landing flight and we just wanted to get to our hotel and settled. After passing security we got outside and now was time to find a taxi, we chose not to use the transfer bus as we normally find it quicker to grab a taxi. To be honest this was really easy, taxi rank just outside the airport exit door and plenty of taxis on offer, took us about 2 mins to get into one. Taxi journey was about 10-15 mins and cost us €19 which I thought was a fair price. Check in Upon arrival at the hotel there was no food open, we arrived around 10.45pm and the restaurant closed at 9pm, luckily we brought some snacks. Check in was fine apart from the €10 euro/day tourist tax, we thought this was high and was told it would only be €7/day. The receptionist ( John or Michael ) who checked us in took our passports and suggested we go get a drink from the only all inclusive bar that was open, so we headed over while he processed our details. I wish I never now, we were greeted by a very angry barman, if you go to this hotel you will know who I'm on about, a small dark haired Greek who has severe customer service issues. There was a queue of around 15 guests and while we waited in the queue he was shouting at the quests at the front, telling them to have their order ready and to stop wasting time. In my opinion this guy should not work with the public, I had many encounters with him during my stay and none of them positive, he just seemed to hate his job and dislike foreigners. He only seemed to crack a smile if girls were being served, anyway, we got to the front of the queue and asked for water, he gave me a small plastic cup with ice in it and told me to go to a water dispenser, these are dotted around the hotel, far and few between and dispense warm water, same temperature as the air 🤮. We then went upto our room and to be honest we were happy with the size of the room, room 211, with a massive balcony, we began unpacking and the heat was raging so went to turn on the A/C, couldn't get this to work so had to go and get John from reception, he came upand after getting his life story he couldn't get it to work, suggested we leave the balcony doors open and gave us mosquito spray 😫🔥, we tried this but it was still roasting so I started googling the A/C unit and found the remote control had been reset, so I reprogrammed it and it worked... for a bit. Next morning at 9am it was just broken, went to reception and told them, they sent a maintenance man up and he looked at it and scratched his head for a while and said he would be back in 10 mins, half past 4 and still hadn't heard from them so went to reception and told them, very grumpy lady told me yes yes we know, I said well what's happening it roasting, it was 35oC.. we went out and came back in about 5.30, when we went back in it was working and worked for the rest of our stay. The food at the main restaurant was ok at best for adults and non existent for kids, when I say ok I mean just ok and barely found something to eat each day, I lived of salad and oranges and the puddings were always some jelly or custard cakes and were disgusting and repetitive. 8m sure they use the left overs from breakfast to mix into lunch dishes, and the left overs from lunch to mix into some dinner dishes. Staff in the restaurant were doing their best to keep up but always lack of dishes and glasses to drink and eat from, I found myself standing waiting for plates most of the time and glasses for a drink, when these came out they were roasting after just been in a dish washer, so no chance of getting a cold drink from the limited drinks at the machine. Back to the staff, the restaurant staff did do their best and tried to smile but were constantly being overlooked by the restaurant manager, any time staff tried to engage with guests the manager would start shouting at them in front of all the guests, this was really uncomfortable and totally unprofessional, he should have kept this for staff meetings, I like to engage with staff and learn a bit about the area but on multiple occasions when I tried he would come storming over and start shouting at them and telling them to get on with work. One member of staff in particular who tried to give us information was really nice guy from Croatia, his name is Bruno. It seemed that he was there every minute of the day, cleaning the restaurant outside sitting area in the morning, working in tye restaurant all through the day and then having to spend the evening working in the main bar with tye grumpy old barman, at least he served with a smile and interacted with us when he could, but you could tell he was nervous and ready to be shouted at, so big thanks to Bruno and all restaurant staff, seriously over worked and under staffed. Food at the snack bar at the top of the complex was bad, fish nuggets that were like small stones, chips and fly infested salad.. they did do Pizza every day but even this was a joke, we were down at the restaurant pool most days and it's a 5 min walk up to the top pool and 5 min back in 35 degrees ☀️, so I done this most days days to get my kids some pizza... but you are only allowed 2 small slices per person, they are really strict on this and I was refused many times and told them its for my kids down at the other pool, she said we'll they need to come up and get it themselves 🤔🤔. I ended up getting 2 slices, putting it on a table and joining the mile long queue again to get 2 more and again to get 2 more, by this time it took about 30 mins to get a few slices of pizza, I couldn't even get a drink in between because the drinks queue was even longer up at the top pool. The waterpark, we only went here 2 days, mainly because its so far away from where we need to go to get drinks, no facilities over there at all and again have to walk all the way up to the snack bar at the top pool where we could only get 2 drinks per person, a family of 4 and we all need to treck up if we want a drink. This was one of the biggest downsides for me, how limited we were with snacks and drinks and I couldn't go and get us all a drink or a snack easily. So to summarise... Hotel was ok but needs attention. Food, terrible and no restaurants outside the complex so stuck in here Staff mixed, Restaurant manager and old bar man shouldn't work with guests but the rest were good and done the best under stressful conditions. No way is this a 4* hotel, I would honestly say 3 at best but has potential to be 4* with a bit of investment in staff and food.
