This was our first trip to Garza Blanca. We are not time share members either. We are Hyatt members but decided to try something new! We went during spring break - 3/31-4/7, so we anticipated it would be busier than normal, but it wasn't really all that bad. We had a wonderful time! When checking in, they do push the time share aspect of it, and when we declined, the concierge lady's entire demeanor changed. The Resort: Stunning and luxurious! Very clean. On the smaller side, but we did visit Villa del Palmar one day, and that was nice as well. Our room: We stayed in a two queen bed room and it was very nice. It was my Husband, 11 year-old Daughter and myself and I will say, there is ZERO privacy. No privacy to change at all and there is a fairly decent crack in the bathroom door that you can see out of as well. I'm sure there are other upgraded rooms that would allow for more privacy so if that's what you need, then I highly recommend that. Also, the walls are incredibly thin. We could hear anything and everything from all sides every night, ALL night, it sounded like someone was doing construction above us and moving furniture. We had to put white noise on our phone and it still woke us all up each night. I asked the front desk, and they said where our room was located, it's close to the workers entrance on each floor, and that they would ask them to be quieter. We stayed in 4224 for reference. They provided an array of snacks each day and the fridge was always stocked. They did a wonderful job keeping it cleaning and making it cozy in the evenings as well. The gym: we used the gym each morning. It's on the smaller side and it filled up quickly, but the equipment was very nice. The pool: The pools are great. We stayed at the lowest pool all week near the big swim up bar. The service was always phenomenal. Shout out to Erick, Alex, Julio, Omar and Santos. We had them throughout the week and each one always went out of their way to make our day great! We ordered food by the pool every day also, and its delicious! The pool chair situation is wild though. We were incredibly lucky and I think it had a lot to do with the above people. I witnessed so many people be incredibly rude due to frustration not being able to get a seat by the pool. The prime seats around the pool area are reserved for VIP or elite members: time share or residential guests. So it doesn't matter how early you go down to reserve a spot, those seats are reserved and those guests have until 11 am to claim them. Once 11 am comes, and they don't utilize their chairs, the pool staff will move people up to better seats. We were lucky each and every day, but I feel a lot of that has to do with kindness and tipping. We got a prime seat each day from the start, except Easter, but were eventually moved up. Restaurants: DAO: our favorite. Beautiful view from the rooftop and inside is stunning. Our server was phenomenal and I wish I remembered his name but I will post a picture of him. He made the experience amazing and the food was great. Hiroshi: Our second favorite. We ate here twice and both times - Delicious! Blanca Blue: Our server was great, but the food was just ok. We ate here once for lunch and once for dinner, and lunch was better in our opinion Bocados: Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food Gourmet Hall: We ate breakfast every day and every staff member was wonderful. Food is delicious and even though it's a buffet it feels very high end Davino ( Villa Del Palmar side ) - Would not recommend. Food was so so and inside is very outdated. - I made dinner reservations 2 weeks ahead of arrival, except for our last night and thank God I did, because it's not so easy to just walk into a restaurant. We walked into Hiroshi around 7:00 pm our last night & they told us it wouldn't be until 9:30 pm originally ,and although they ended up seating us at 8 pm they first made it seem like a big inconvenience, Beach: probably one of the worst beaches we have ever been to. It's so rocky it's hard to even walk into. So much seaweed ( they did a great job trying to remove it ) but you had to swim through so much to even get to a soft spot to walk. They do have inflatables which the kids seemed to love, paddleboards and kayaks which was great. Entertainment: little to none. They did water aerobics daily at 12 where they played music, and then volleyball around 3 pm but nothing other than that! Monday and Tuesday they had a magic show and Mexican show but that's it other than Latin music in the lobby. The entertainment area is beautiful though. They have a carousel, but it's an added cost. All in all, this resort was a welcomed change from our typical Hyatt all inclusive stays, and I feel it lived up to it's luxury name. Would we come back, sure but if you are beach person, this is not the resort for you. If you want a luxury resort to lounge by a beautiful pool then I recommend!
