Be aware of room descriptions (not all rooms are equal..)

There are many positives to this hotel. Unfortunately for us our room / view from our balcony was not one of them.... The GF Victoria website provides some lovely looking pictures and a very appealing room description: "Beautiful views towards the sea, pool or garden, private terrace, luxury and all the amenities you and your family deserve. If you've chosen one of our Senior Suites, you are a lucky guest." As per attached photo I'm afraid our reality fell short of the expectations that had been set... Our frustration had been further increased by the TUI website (who we booked with) which specifically stated we would receive a pool view. The hotel confirmed upon check in that the TUI website was incorrect and that the room that had been allocated was all that was available. As someone who enjoys spending time on their balcony we requested a move to a more suitable room. Unfortunately we did not hear back from reception. Whilst there are many positives to the hotel, the reality is we would not have booked to stay based on the room we were allocated. We have since contacted TUI who acknowledged the error on their website and advised they will be updating their room description. This does however further add to our frustrations in that it confirms we did not receive the room that we booked....

Fantastic year on year

This was our returning year on year visit and this time was even better than the last. We were already aware of the rooms and facilities, but these were kept to a fantastic standard with housekeeping going above and beyond every time. Even during a busy period, there were always available spaces around the pools, with lifeguards always on hand. (we did witness one of the lifeguards having to jump into the pool to help a child and were incredibly impressed with the responsiveness). Food for breakfast and dinner at the buffet was equally impressive and seems to get better each year. Special mention goes to the Cucumber & Lime juice at breakfast which our fussy 3 year old was obsessed with. The animation team were all fantastic and our son really was able to get the full benefits of the amazing things they have available. All were brilliant, but special shout out for Olga who our son hasn't stopped talking about and refers to as his 'best friend'. It's easy to talk about facilities, food, etc. But the real benefit of GF Victoria is the 'vibe'. From staff, to guests, everyone is happy and friendly. This makes a massive impact. In addition to the fact that the whole property feels incredibly safe and secure. Nothing makes us happier than to arrive at the hotel and for our son to be confident, independent, and treat it as a second home. Can't wait to come again next year.

Family Friendly Hotel

Our third time stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend. Hotel is lovely and spotless clean. All staff extremely friendly whilst being professional. Rooms are all suited offering plenty of space. We were there with our daughter and our two small grandchildren ( 2&4). Our rooms were adjacent with lovely big balconies over looking what they call the garden. The boys could toddle between our two rooms via the balcony which was lovely. Breakfast buffet is excellent all very fresh with plenty of everything on offer. The restaurant is spacious, bright and spotless. Facilities for the children are excellent, all pools are well staffed with plenty of sun loungers, towels etc. Lunchtime food on offer is all cooked very fresh and reasonably priced. Service is quick and efficient. Hotel is situated in lovely part of adeje and it’s very easy to walk to a lovely beach and plenty of nice shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we would definitely return for a fourth visit.

Not a 5 star and bug infested

I am currently staying in this hotel rm 225 I will be happy to update this review if my experience changes. Over the last couple of years I have stayed in 2 of the ikos hotels and a 5 star in Lanzarote, comparing the GF Victoria to these it is clearly not a 5 star. The positives are the food is very very good and the location is nice being close to the beach, shop and restaurants, the service from staff has also been very good. One down side is the pool opens at 9.30 and there is a queue and then rush to the sunbeds but this doesn't stop people saving them because they just dump their things and then go to breakfast. It is difficult to get a spot around the family pool if you aren't there for 9.30. The pool also gets very crowded and a large amount of blow up rings and toys mean you will get bumped into. The smaller pool is not much better and being a funny shape of feels more cramped when you're in it. My main issue so far are the issues with the rooms I am with a toddler and a 3 month old baby and the shower room in our room is full of ants, the kitchen area is covered in mites or tiny ants and the main bathroom has what looks to be termites as there are bodies on the floor. This has been reported to the hotel but no action has been taken, I understand bugs are hard to get rid of but it's not something I expect to deal with in a 5 start hotel. Other issue is the sliding door between the rooms is extremely heavy and hard to open and close initially when close it reopens it's self which isn't convenient with two kids and nap time but this was rectified. Our hairdryer is also broken it has been reported but not fixed. We are on holiday with extended family and one member got stuff in the bathroom because the lock got stuck and the main door to one of the rooms is so heavy and stiff it is very hard for the occupant to open alone.

Just home from a 10 day stay at the GF Victoria. We stayed as a family of 4, including a toddler in the cot & 8 year old on a sofa bed. The reception staff were excellent to deal with and nothing was any bother. Huge selection at breakfast and again the staff were really accommodating to our needs. On a few occasions we ate from the food truck at floor 5 and it was delicious. Our toddler utilised the baby club daily. A big thank you to Mika & Beatriz, who were absolutely fabulous with him. He's not an easy toddler! Mika remembered him from our last stay and was able to recall some details we told her then, which I found very impressive. Our 8 year old used Maxi Club. Although it was VERY quiet, he loved all the attention he received from Samuel & Olga. Again, they remembered him from last year. He looked to go to the club every day. The cleaning staff did a great job in our suite and the turndown at night was very welcome. We ate outside the hotel every night. Just two comments to make...... 1. Every time we have stayed at the GF Victoria, we have had issues with our TV. This time, although eventually it did work, for a 5* hotel the offerings were disappointing. 2. I would love to return to the GF Victoria in November, but the prices are unaffordable. It would be great if a loyalty system was in place, etc. or if there were reservations personnel based on site. Obviously I get why they're not, but in other 5* hotels we have stayed in, by having a reservation personnel on site, allows you to negotiate within reason. Overall, another fabulous stay at the GF Victoria. All the staff were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Thank you all.
