How lucky are we to return to the fabulous Gili Lankanfushi for a fourth time and as always it didn't disappoint. On both arrival and departure at the airport we were met by the brilliant Airport Friday, Hussain, who made everything so easy and totally stress free. From there you take a short speedboat trip to Gili where you are greeted at the jetty and welcomed with smiles and laughter from the many members of staff who we have got to know over the past years. Sadly our usual Mr Friday wasn't there when we arrived due to a family emergency, so we had the lovely Shany (another amazing person that we have got to know over the past few years) for a couple of days before Miffy returned. This was the fourth time we have been lucky enough to have the very charming Miffy looking after us and although we have said this before, he is honestly one of the kindest, most caring and genuine people we have ever met. Nothing is ever too much trouble and he's always there when you need him. Everything at Gili is seamless and runs like clockwork and although our flight had been delayed by a little, we were still able to quickly unpack and head for our pre-diner drink in the Overwater Bar where we were greeted by both Abdullah and Amin who once again welcomed us back with happy smiles. Dinner followed and Wabbe, our fantastic waiter of the last four years, was there with his wonderful smile and engaging humour. Nothing is ever too much trouble and with his incredible laugh, he can always bring a smile to our faces. We were so so happy that he had been promoted as, in our opinion, it was certainly very well deserved. There are two charming hostesses in the restaurant, Monica and Aleisha, who are always there to guide you to your table and to offer a helping hand whenever you should need it. We were lucky enough to have two wine tastings in the incredible cellar, firstly hosted by Ramen (the sommelier from the Japanese restaurant, By the Sea) and he had chosen some fabulous wines, one of which we didn't know they had at Gili, which was a lovely surprise. Our second tasting was hosted by Guyan (who is the sommelier at the main restaurant) and again were spoilt with some fantastic wines. Both Ramen and Guyan have such incredible knowledge and we always feel that we could sit and listen to them talk about wine for hours. The Meera Spa is a haven of peace and tranquility and we made two visits on one of which I had the most incredible ninety minute facial by Sue. I don't think I have ever felt so relaxed and spent the rest of the day in a dreamlike state. My husband had two full body massages which he very much enjoyed. Thank you Gili and all the team for looking us so incredibly well and we hope to see our Gili "family" again very soon.
