Golden Rock Beach Hotel

From checking in everything was top notch. Rooms were cleaned to a high standard. We were on the 6th floor as requested. Sunloungers were never an issue, new rules say no towels before 6am and 95% stuck to it. The on site shop was reasonably priced and sometimes cheaper on items. Arron (jewellery) was pleasant but not pushy, extremely friendly and can often be seen chatting around the pool to guests. He repaired a ring for hubby and straightened out daughter’s engagement ring too. The earrings I bought from him last year are still perfect. Ali and Sara (tattoo) worked their magic creating a coverup tattoo for my daughter. Can’t praise them enough. The entertainment team were great, we enjoyed boccia with Cera, the occasional water gym with Rose and Meta was hilarious “what’s your problem”. We found that new acts have been introduced this year including a white party, this has added to the love of this hotel. When it came to eating, none of the 5 of us had any trouble finding something to eat, this includes one member having adhd and only likes beige foods😂. All meals were plentiful, with a good selection to suit most diets, only trouble is deciding what to eat. A massive mention to Apu in the restaurant, he always made sure we had water/drinks on our table and made mealtimes fuss free. Elvis is polite and friendly too. John on the bar kept our cups filled and queues to a minimum. The ice cream was delicious and welcoming in the afternoons. There’s no better endorsement when your 15 yr old grandson has asked to return to the hotel each year. We have already booked for 12 of us to come in Oct 2026 so it’s a little cooler for the younger ones. The only negative was the last day when we asked to keep a room on- we paid £60 to swap to a room on a lower floor as ours was already booked, didn’t mind paying, BUT we were NOT told a checkout time so assumed we would have it until we left at 7:30pm , we arranged between us to start showers at 4:30pm so we weren’t on top of each other. At 4:10 pm our names got called over the mic- check out was 4pm 🤯, explained we weren’t given a time but they were having none of it , so basically payed £60 to keep our suitcases in a room for 4 hours - really mad about this - the maids didn’t even have to clean anything.

My family and I were on vacation at the hotel this month. We were extremely satisfied with the entertainment, the cuisine and the staff. We were particularly impressed by Boris - a very good and well-mannered boy. Unfortunately, we witnessed a conflict between him and his boss, in which his boss belittled him in front of a large part of the guests, and Boris himself was not at fault in the situation. For this reason, I leave 1 star. I do not think it is right to treat his workers in this way, but with the respect they deserve

We absolutely loved the hotel and the staff, who were exceptionally kind and helpful, especially Boris. However, I am giving this a one-star review due to the unfair treatment of the employees by the boss. I found it truly disrespectful when he shouted at Boris in front of the guests. After the argument we didn't see Boris anymore.

For the money we paid I would definitely recommend this hotel for so many reasons. Although I do have lots of minor issues that I feel would really improve things at the hotel. This was my second time at the Golden Rock. The first time was 2016 but the decor hasn’t changed. It’s nice but needs a good dust in reception area and could be doing with a little upgrade now. If you’re thinking 5 star then you’ll be disappointed. In Marmaris 5 star is about 4 star, so ignore reviews that complain about this. It’s the same anywhere in Turkey. The rooms are clean and towels changed daily. The hotel is great but my gripe with the rooms is the silly things like peeling wallpaper which is such an easy fix. Cleaners are lovely and very friendly, leaving nice little towel animals etc. it was a nice surprise. The pool is pretty cold but refreshing. Need to get up really early for the best beds. Beds on the side closest the hotel and near the beach get the sun all day. The pool bar could be doing with a major upgrade. It’s quite pitiful looking. However, the snack bar and ice cream is quality and a great addition. The location is also a major plus. Right on the beach and walking distance from shops, supermarket, pharmacy and nightlife. The food is a major plus. Whoever is making the food now is top quality. We were never stuck for something to eat. Only little gripes was the plates being unclean at times and that I have no idea what type of meat were in the dishes. This would be easily resolved with a little note beside it indicating the type of meat. I kept forgetting there was even more food at dinner time outside. Food really is brilliant though. Top marks to the chef and the waiting staff. Only real downer was the bar drinks. The alcohol was awful. Vodka doesn’t taste anything like vodka and the Malibu is vodka with coconut syrup. The cocktails are awful too. Hardly saw anyone drinking those. I like Effes beer so that saved me. The entertainment at night was actually decent at times. The Mongolian circus was really good and so were the drifters, they had a foam party that was really good too. Find somewhere else to be during the staff performance and Turkish night. I found the pool entertainment team were completely uninterested and pretty untalented and I’ve been in Marmaris to 7 different hotels. Rose was very friendly but the others looked like they couldn’t be bothered being there and I’m pretty sure dancing wasn’t part of their audition. The shorter Turkish guy with facial hair (can’t remember his name, genuinely looked like it’s the last place on earth he wanted to be) The dinner starts at 7pm which I feel is quite late. The kids entertainment starts at 9pm which is really late and by the time the actual entertainment comes on everyone is too tired. Bring a hairdryer. The room fridge is stocked with free water and is great. There is a safe you can pay for in the room. I feel this should be free. Great that the extra bed is actually a bed and not a sofa. Great addition is their free weigh machine for cases in reception. There is no iron. Great little freebies in the bathroom like nail file shower gel and cotton buds etc. Coffee, tea and kettle in the room is great. Would I come back?…for what I paid….absolutely.
