We’ve recently just stayed at the Grand Ideal Premium for 11 nights. Upon first impression A of walking into the building its is very good, lovely reception area and in fact all public areas are much of the same, clean, tidy and grand. We had a connecting room, for four adults and two children, very tight on space, not much room to hang your clothes and limited shelf space for clothes and shoes, the cleaners do work tirelessly though to keep rooms tidy, what was impressive was the digital panels for asking for your room to be cleaned. The corridors and other rooms can be noisy, the walls are a bit thin and as expected not everyone is as clued up to realise people might be asleep when walking along corridors. The biggest let down of this hotel are the lifts, they’re tiny and you can wait long periods to get one. We had a pushchair with us and being on the 4th floor we had to wait many occasion for the lift to be vacant. I wouldn’t expect fellow holiday makers to allow you to enter either, numerous times those who could have used the stairs stayed in the lift and looked at you like you were the issue for trying to get into a tight lift with your pushchair. No wonder us Brits get a bad name and are an on growing lazy population. The food was very hitty missy, the breakfast the same every day which you would expect, variations of hot foods, yogurts, cereal and fruits. Lunch menu was probably the best selection of food from all meal times and the evening menu was just bland, the same foods night after night with different labels. We planned on eating out but not as often as we did. The snack bar is pretty much a kids buffet other than the salad bar, anything deep fried, burgers and pizza. Other than a Turkish themed night nothing on any buffet had Turkish dishes which is very much a shame. The pool is big with one slide but as expected in April the water was very cold but did warm slightly as the warmer days went on; luckily we hit it good with the weather, plenty of sun. The entertainment is very repetitive, same activities during the day and same set evening acts. Once is enough for them all. The bars are good, pool bar during the day the drinks aren’t as strong as you’d like but I can imagine that’s to keep people from being over intoxicated. The lounge bar on an evening is the place for your stronger cocktails. The staff are great, they’ll do anything to help and work tirelessly, a credit to their hotel. The hotel states that it’s a 5* but it’s far from that, I can imagine during peak season that this hotel is a nightmare for getting sun loungers and for noise during later hours. We’ve had a good holiday but based on other hotels we’ve stayed at in Marmaris we won’t be coming back to this one.
