We are back in Bali & back to our favourite hotel. There is never a disappointment at Grand Istana Rama. Room serviced daily, often with towel animals on the bed. Excellent breakfast choices. Warung on site, serving great food at cheap prices. The main restaurant has a great all you can eat buffet every night. The restaurant also has no ++, so no surprises at the end. Next to Beach Walk shopping mall & across the road from the beach. Great pool & swim up bar. The rooms are among beautiful gardens.

I have been a guest of this property twice a year for the last 10 years. It is a hidden gem. Great location, great staff and just a good vibe. The rooms are very dated and the food is good, but not 5 star. It’s the location that allows you to venue out and us this property as a base.

Back at Grand Istana Rama Kuta & loving it.

So I’m back at Grand Istama Rana Kuta Bali. 3 weeks down & 1 to go. It’s very easy, safe & relaxing doing Bali solo from here. My villa is spacious, well appointed & kept immaculate by the cleaning staff. I love coming back to my room & seeing my bed made up perfectly with lovely linen. Plus I get the “cruise ship vibe” with my fabulous towel animals waiting for me. The staff here are as gracious & welcoming as ever, nothing is a problem. I have to say though, that the Pool Boys here are an absolute stand out! They never stop working, cleaning, sweeping & moving chairs for everyone. Every day one of the boys sees me walk in & goes to grab the lounger I prefer (moves into a straight incline for my back) & takes it to where I like sitting. They even bring me fresh towels when they see I’ve taken yesterday’s ones back to my room. All with a beautiful smile, as if it’s their pleasure helping me be comfortable.I have honestly never encountered such lovely helpful pool staff anywhere else in my travels. There are lots of hotels to choose from in Bali, but if you want to be opposite the beach, if you like old world Bali aesthetics, lovely grounds, a big pool, a big bedroom, a lovely bathroom & happy friendly staff - you’ll be exceedingly happy here.

Perfect Stay - Beautiful Hotel & Wonderful Staff

We spent 10 amazing days at this beautiful hotel and couldn’t be happier with our experience. Our room was spacious, spotless, and opened onto a cozy veranda surrounded by immaculate gardens. Sitting outside and watching the squirrels and local wildlife each morning was such a treat. The entire hotel staff were exceptional—always friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. A special shoutout to the fantastic team at Bar 69 – their energy and hospitality really made our stay even more enjoyable. The pool area and swim-up bar were the perfect way to unwind after a busy day exploring. Whether it was a relaxing dip or enjoying a cocktail in the water, it quickly became one of our favourite spots. I also treated myself to a massage and facial—both absolutely lovely. The food was consistently delicious, and the location is unbeatable—right across the road from the beach and just a short walk to shops, local markets, and restaurants. This place truly felt like a little slice of paradise. We can’t wait to come back!

Grand Istana Rama Hotel never disappoints!

We have returned to our second home in Kuta Bali at the Grand Istana Rama Hotel which is located across the road from the beach. Although this is rated as four star, the beautiful well maintained tropical gardens surrounding the accommodation, the rooms, pool/bar area and restaurant makes it more like five stars. Every time we come back we see the regular staff, being Aria at the guest services desk, Ms Dewi manager of the morning breakfast restaurant as well as others. This time I need to thank Ms Ratu at reservations for looking after our accomodation bookings needs. Also, the lovely staff at reception at reception including Ms Pua. Our room this time is number 617 where we usually stayed in the 200’s ground floor section but it’s still the same quality deluxe balcony rooms we are accustomed too. The balcony now has two comfortable fabric chairs as well as a small table. The accomodation rooms are always immaculate. Our room has a huge king bed with an inbuilt desk and chair, two fabric single lounge chairs with a round table, a mini bar, room safe and wall mounted flat screen TV. Coffee and tea is supplied with an electric jug. The room is air conditioned. The bathroom has a toilet and shower over a bath tub. Small containers of body wash, shampoo and conditioner are supplied and replenished daily. And finally you receive two complimentary bottles of water daily. Overall this is our favourite hotel in Kuta and will come back time and time again to see our extended Bali family. I haven’t supplied many photos this time as I have previously posted many each time we visit and I do a review on the Grand Istana Rama (search for my previous reviews) 🙏.
