Grand Kaptan

Traveled on our first vacation with our five month old. The staff var excellent and helped us with everything we needed, Mahere and Özlem, Gunnur and Ebru was absolute stars! We have traveled to Alanya before but this hotel really goes the extra mile with their service cleanliness and overall impression. Great varied food at the buffet, great beach with bar and nice rooms with Coffe and minibar. Well worth the money, we will definitely come again!

The hotel is clean,well equipped and friendly.I found the beach area not great as very gritty sand and rocky waters and hard to get a sunbed.However,the food was okay in beach restaurant.Room was spacious and we found beds were very comfortable.The air con seemed to come and go so had to leave balcony door open most nights. The pools were lovely with plenty of sunbeds and my partner had a great massage in spa. Foodwise,a bit samey by end of week.Mainly meat and fish and salad. Unfortunately, we both went down with tummy bugs,other hotel guests in Alanya in different accom had also been ill so dont think it was the hotel's fault but with so many people there, easily spread. I wouldnt go back only because of the three hour transfer and the beach not being as good as hoped but I would still say its a decent hotel and good for children too.

Family of 3, stayed 10 nights. Overall, I liked this hotel more than my partner did. The hotel sits between two busy roads, so expect some road noise at night from cars and trucks. We were on the 3rd floor with a lovely sea view from a spacious balcony (though it wasn’t swept once during our stay). The room itself was generous, with plenty of storage. That said, it’s showing its age — especially the bathroom, which could do with modernising. The mattress was extremely firm. I don’t mind a hard bed, but my partner was uncomfortable by the end of the trip. There are a few English TV channels, tea and coffee facilities, and a fridge — though it barely cooled drinks. The room’s fan was ineffective; I wouldn’t want to stay here in peak summer. We left the balcony door open every night, but the room still felt stuffy. Room: 6/10 – nothing terrible, just dated and poorly ventilated. The pool area is a highlight — clean, well-maintained, and spacious. The slide pool gets busy with loud music, but the larger pool has plenty of sunbeds (no early-morning sunbed wars!). We preferred the quieter pool in the second half of our stay. The snack bar and poolside drinks were excellent. Pool area: 8/10 Food and drink were solid. The buffet offered the usual all-inclusive fare — plenty of grilled meats, fresh salads, and variety. As a fan of simple Turkish food, I was happy. Spirits were branded (Johnnie Walker, Baileys, Morgan’s, etc.), which was a nice touch. Food & drink: 7/10 The location is busy but convenient — supermarkets, restaurants, and the beach are all a short walk away. Need a toothbrush? There’s a Migros nearby (great prices, clearly marked). Every staff member we met was friendly, polite, and helpful. No complaints there. I really enjoyed the hotel and would happily return — but my partner wouldn’t, so I know I won’t be back! Overall: 7/10 Better than average, especially for the price and location. Great for laid-back families who value convenience and pool time over luxury. If you’re used to upscale hotels, this probably isn’t for you.

I was hovering between 3 and 4 stars, but taking everything into account, average probably sums up the experience. Food was standard all inclusive grub, not the best not the worst. Drinks were fine (branded spirits which was a bonus) Pool area was lovely and clean but the music around the slide pool was stupidly loud and the same playlists on repeat which for the main part was the same house beat with 80s songs over the top. Choose your sunbed wisely or you will be playing chase the sun by early afternoon. What took the shine off the holiday for me personally and I guess this can be subjective, was the uncomfortable bed, it was like sleeping on pebble dash. Swapped with my kid and slept on the pull out but that was somehow worse. The aircon was terrible which meant we had to keep the balcony door open next to the busy road with lorries, sirens and constant horns honking, not that this really helped with the stuffiness. The balcony was not swept the entire time we were there so I dread to think what got trodden into the CARPET in the room. Beach is nice, not sand but not an issue for sunbathing and swimming. We paid £70 for two of us to paraglide but I was not paying another £30 for the photos!! So watch that con. Overall it was okay and I highly recommend budgeting for the spa. I had 4 massages while I was there (maybe that's the lumpy bed plot) and a turkish bath. Shops and bars in the area so always somewhere to go for a walk after tea, down the beach front is nice where the swings are.
