We recently stayed at Grecotel Lux Me Kos and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience that did not match the promises made on their website or booking platforms. • We specifically booked two Pool View rooms, but upon arrival, we were given Garden View rooms instead – and if this is what they call a “pool view,” it is extremely misleading. Please take a close look at the attached photos to see the stark difference. When we reported this to the front desk, their only response was that the hotel was at full capacity, and no solution or compensation was offered. • The cleanliness was shockingly poor. Housekeeping left a dirty cleaning cloth on the bathroom sink (see photo), which is not only careless but unhygienic. • The rooms lacked basic hygiene essentials; there was no liquid hand soap, only a small bar soap to be shared by the entire family. When we requested liquid soap, we were told it was unavailable — a surprising and unacceptable neglect of basic hygiene standards. • Both bathrooms emitted a strong sewage odor, which made staying in the rooms very uncomfortable, especially for families. • We chose this hotel based on the claim that it was new or recently renovated. However, this turned out to be far from reality. Only the lobby area looks renovated, while the rooms, furniture, and bathrooms are visibly old, worn out, and in poor condition. Please carefully review the photos to see the outdated interiors. Anyone expecting a 4- or 5-star experience will be deeply disappointed; the hotel feels more like a 3-star property at best. • The beach is extremely rocky, making it unsafe for children or barefoot walking. On the very first day, several family members suffered cuts and injuries due to the sharp stones — a detail not mentioned anywhere in the hotel’s description. • On top of everything, my husband was stung by a jellyfish on the beach today. The lifeguards saw the injury and applied cream, but this incident further highlights how unsafe and poorly managed the beach area is. • Additionally, the shower controls are confusing: red means cold and blue means hot, which is the opposite of standard convention. There is no way to balance the temperature—you must choose either an ice-cold or a scalding hot shower. This problem likely stems from the hotel’s old and poorly maintained plumbing system, further reflecting its age and neglect. • Another unpleasant surprise was the water policy: only the first bottle of water is complimentary, and after that, guests must pay for additional bottles — even during the peak summer heat. We found this to be a cheap and unreasonable practice, especially in a place marketed as a luxury resort. Overall, this hotel grossly misrepresents itself. Poor hygiene, outdated facilities, lack of basic amenities, and a hazardous beach made our stay uncomfortable and disappointing. We strongly advise travelers to reconsider before booking here.
